WWE Saturday Night Main Event Moves Exclusively to Peacock

Summary

  • WWE PLEs move to ESPN DTC starting Sept 20 (Wrestlepalooza); Peacock loses most live PLEs.
  • Saturday Night’s Main Event moves exclusively to Peacock 4x a year starting Nov 1; Cena’s final match Dec 13.
  • Fans must juggle Peacock, ESPN DTC, Netflix, and cable to watch WWE.

It was only a little bit ago when it was first announced that WWE PLEs are moving to ESPN, starting on September 20 with Wrestlepalooza. The WWE PLEs were leaving Peacock sooner than expected, but it was just announced that WWE isn’t done with the streaming service just yet.

Saturday Night Main Event Goes To Peacock

In a press release from NBC Sports, it was revealed that WWE and Peacock agreed on a multi-year partnership for Peacock to exclusively stream the iconic Saturday Night’s Main Event series live. So that means it will stop airing on TV on NBC.

Saturday Night’s Main Event will stream in primetime exclusively on Peacock four times each year, starting on November 1. It was also confirmed that John Cena’s final match will air on Peacock on December 13. WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H said this via a press release about the move:

“We’re excited to bring Saturday Night’s Main Event exclusively to Peacock beginning this fall. NBCU have been terrific longtime partners, and we look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come.”

It was also revealed that the WWE Network library will remain available on the streaming service through the end of 2025, and all the NXT Premium Live Events will be available until March 2026.

WWE’s Last Saturday Night Main Event Included Goldberg’s Final Match

As noted, Cena’s last match will be on Saturday Night Main Event. The last event saw that happen with Goldberg. The show aired on NBC on July 12, 2025. The retirement match did not go in favor of Goldberg.

The match ended with Gunther, then the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, successfully retaining the title. As reported, Goldberg wasn’t too happy with how his retirement match went, not because he didn’t get the title, but the lack of promotion and his farewell speech getting cut off didn’t help matters.

Other matches that night included Randy Orton (with country singer Jelly Roll by his side) defeating Drew McIntyre (he had Logan Paul in his corner), Solo Sikoa retaining the WWE United States Championship against Jimmy Uso, and LA Knight defeating Seth Rollins.

So, to watch Saturday Night Main Event and NXT Premium Live Events, fans will have to keep Peacock. To watch the rest of the WWE PLEs, like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and of course, Wrestlepalooza, fans will need ESPN’s new direct-to-consumer (DTC) service. That’s not counting Netflix to watch WWE RAW or cable for WWE SmackDown. It’s a lot for fans to deal with just to watch a little bit of wrestling.
