WWE Releases Under Triple H That Vince McMahon Would’ve Blocked

Triple H has often been seen as a stronger leader than Vince McMahon in terms of how he treats talent, with many people praising him, from fans and professional wrestlers alike. However, that doesn’t mean that he has been perfect during his time in charge of WWE, especially when it comes to releasing wrestlers.

Although Triple H and Vince McMahon have a different approach to booking, they’re still similar in many ways.

McMahon was always cutthroat with his decisions, opting to do what’s best for business. However, there were certain people he would never have released for various reasons, yet Triple H has done the opposite. He might be praised for promoting women’s wrestling or giving WWE NXT Superstars a better opportunity. Still, some people have lost their jobs under him who would likely have been safer under McMahon’s leadership.

  • Corbin’s release came as a shock to WWE fans.
  • WWE always had a spot for Corbin throughout his run with the company.
  • He was one of few wrestlers who could always gain genuine heel heat.

The release of Baron Corbin caught most people off guard because he was regularly used during his time with the company. From the moment he joined the main roster until his release, the Lone Wolf was pushed and regularly found himself on television.

WWE had some interesting gimmick ideas with these wrestlers, but ultimately lost patience.

Most of the time, when wrestlers are cut, it doesn’t come as a surprise because they’re usually not being used and spend all their time in catering. That was never the case with Corbin, as he was someone who always gained huge reactions from fans, while he cut a good promo and could hold his own inside the ring.

While McMahon held back on pushing him to be a World Champion, even though he won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2017, Corbin still got to work against top talent such as Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre regularly. He was an asset to the roster, and that’s why McMahon wouldn’t have cut him.

Jinder Mahal

Vince McMahon Made Him The WWE Champion

  • McMahon was a fan of Mahal’s physique.
  • Mahal went from a jobber to a main eventer.
  • Triple H barely used Mahal before releasing him.

There are certain wrestlers who Vince McMahon gravitates toward even when the masses don’t see it, and Jinder Mahal was that person for a while. Even though McMahon released him at one point, the modern-day Maharaja returned in unbelievable shape, leading to his career being flipped on its head.

Mahal went from being a comedic jobber to the WWE Champion, having a dominant run at the top of the card as a monster heel. McMahon is known for being a body guy who loves wrestlers who are in fantastic shape, and that’s why Mahal would likely have been kept around in the long term by him.

McMahon wouldn’t necessarily have pushed him heavily again, but he’d likely have found different roles to ensure that he was always around. However, Triple H had no problem letting him go as he didn’t use him much, so the decision made sense.

R-Truth

  • R-Truth is someone McMahon found funny.
  • He worked for WWE from 2008 to 2025 in what was his second run with the company.
  • Triple H re-hired him as fans refused to drop their support.

Vince McMahon might not have always pushed veterans and legends, but he often kept them around and paid them due to their years of service. That would likely have kept R-Truth in a job for life if he wanted it, as it’s unlikely that McMahon would’ve cut the multi-time 24/7 champion.

WWE’s Release Of R-Truth Is Not Only Baffling, But Also Insulting

Ron “R-Truth” Killings has just announced his departure from WWE after an almost 20-year career. He deserved a much better send-off.

R-Truth is notoriously good friends with McMahon, which is largely due to how many years they’ve worked together. The WWE veteran was someone who made McMahon laugh, and that seemingly secured him a long-time role in WWE.

McMahon would happily have had R-Truth in various goofy segments until he wanted to retire, showing real loyalty to him. However, Triple H allowed his contract to expire, only to be forced into re-hiring him due to the WWE Universe’s reaction to the situation.

Carmella

  • She was someone who got the entertainment side of WWE.
  • After stepping away to have a family, Carmella never returned to WWE.
  • Carmella had a lot more to offer the wrestling business.

Carmella had a good run in WWE, and she proved her versatility throughout it. Whether she was the arrogant heel everyone hated or busting out a dance break and making people laugh, Carmella was the person who could be plugged into any scenario.

4 Ways WWE In 2025 Is Unrecognizable From Vince McMahon’s Era (& 4 Ways It’s The Same)

WWE right now is nothing like it used to be during Vince McMahon’s era, but many things have also stayed the same.

Most fans were surprised when she was released, as she never got her return run after starting a family away from the business. However, it felt like Triple H could’ve gotten the best out of her if he had given the former Miss Money in the Bank an opportunity.

It’s hard to imagine McMahon having cut ties with her because, as long as she was around, Carmella had a spot on the weekly television show. He seemed to see something in her, which would likely have kept Carmella in a job.
