WWE May Have Already Spoiled When Money In The Bank Will Be Cashed In

WWE is headed to Inglewood, California on June 7, taking over the Intuit Dome for the 2025 Money in the Bank premium live event. Each year, fans anticipate not only who will be the one to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, but also when they will cash in too. This concept might have dried up over the years, but it has still created many surprises and star-making moments. When it comes to the men’s Money in the Bank contract, WWE might have already let the cat out of the bag in terms of when and where this year’s cash-in will take place.

WWE Have Announced A World Title Match After Money In The Bank

RAW After Money In The Bank Features A Big Matchup

Jey Uso and Gunther RAW May 2025

  • Jey Uso will defend the World Heavyweight Championship.
  • Gunther will receive his title rematch.
  • The match not taking place on RAW and not on the PLE is a giveaway.

On the May 12 episode of Monday Night RAW, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther stepped up to the plate to challenge the man who defeated him at WrestleMania 41, current World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso. On the back of a dominant performance against Pat McAfee at Backlash 2025, Gunther stated his intentions to win back the gold, challenging the victor of Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul, which takes place at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event show on May 24.

Jeff Cobb was a big star in New Japan Pro Wrestling, but this is all WWE could come up with for his debut?

The match was officially set… but not for the upcoming Money in the Bank 2025 PLE, even though it would make sense for a world title to be featured on a PLE, especially since Uso was snubbed from the Backlash card. Instead, the World Heavyweight Title match was made official for the episode of Monday Night RAW after Money in the Bank, which takes place in Phoenix, Arizona on June 9 in the PHX Arena. It was an interesting decision by WWE to have the match not on PLE, but there may in fact be a very good reason for this booking call.

Gunther Vs. Jey Uso Is A Lose-Lose Situation

There Is No Good Booking Choice For The Winner

  • Gunther losing for a second time would damage him.
  • Jey Uso losing the title straight back to Gunther would feel pointless.
  • WWE has been backed into a corner with this rivalry.

When it comes to booking a rematch between Gunther and Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship, WWE is faced with a lose-lose situation. On one hand, handing Gunther yet another defeat to Jey Uso would be very damaging to his overall presentation. Gunther has been one of WWE’s most unstoppable and unbeatable wrestlers over the last few years, losing only to Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso since his main roster call up in 2022, and it is imperative that WWE keeps him strong to retain his star power. Losing to Uso so decisively at WrestleMania 41 was bad enough, but doing it twice could do irreparable hurt to his aura as a dominant wrestler.

On the other hand, Jey Uso losing the title straight back to Gunther would make his title reign seem pointless, and it would make his WrestleMania win look like nothing more than a fluke. Losing to someone else would be better than the title simply going back to Gunther. Because of these two scenarios, WWE has backed themselves into a corner creatively… or so it may seem. The announcement of the date and time of their title match may forecast a finish that protects both men – a Money in the Bank cash in.

A Money In The Bank Cash In Is The Only Logical Direction

WWE May Have Given Away The Surprise Already

  • With WWE backed into a corner, a cash-in can save them.
  • There is no other reason for the title match to not be on the PLE.
  • Will WWE really be this predictable with their booking?

Last year, WWE held a Money in the Bank cash-in the night of the PLE. To avoid doing this two years in a row, selecting the night after the show ensures that WWE doesn’t just do a predictable and quick cash in straight away in the exact manner they did the year previous. Scheduling a match for the night after could just be a red herring and to throw fans off, or it could simply be WWE booking something very obvious in the hopes that fans wouldn’t notice or pick up on the potential plans.

The ending of Backlash was just the latest example of Triple H turning main events into overbooked messes.

Having someone come in and interrupt the match, pinning Jey Uso and stealing the World Heavyweight Championship will protect both wrestlers, and it will allow WWE to back themselves out of a corner from a creative standpoint. If a cash-in wasn’t the plan, then it makes very little sense for the match to not be on the PLE itself, especially since Jey Uso has yet to wrestle on a PLE since becoming the champion. It might be predictable, but it currently makes sense.
