WWE Legend Says John Cena Will Put Logan Paul Over

John Cena has been tipped to put Logan Paul over in a similar fashion to how The Undertaker lost to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX before retiring.

The pair are set to battle at Clash in Paris next Saturday (August 31) in one of John Cena’s final matches before calling time on his career in December. The 17-time world champion will compete in his first one-on-one singles match on a PLE without the WWE Championship being at stake since Elimination Chamber in February.

WWE has received some criticism over the decision to choose Paul as one of Cena’s last opponents given the abundance of full-time talent on the roster. Many are hoping to see the legendary WWE star face Bron Breakker and Dominik Mysterio at some point.

JBL, who was one of Cena’s fiercest rivals during his career, not only thinks the social media influencer deserves the spot and should win the match. But he also believes he should be the very last opponent of the Farewell Tour.

He said on ‘Something To Wrestle With’: “I would love it to be his last opponent and I can tell you from the mindset of John Cena, he’s going to put him over … Cena is so good about the business. So many people have left doing, as we say, the right thing. You know, Taker did it with Brock. You know, I did it with Rey.”

Paul signed with WWE in June 2022 and has made regular appearances on PLEs over the years. Cena is just one of several top stars he’s faced, with matches against Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Rey Mysterio also in his catalogue.

JBL thinks he is a future world champion: “People want to leave the business better and Logan Paul I think is a huge part of the future of the business and you’re going to have some people mad at me for saying that, but this young man is absolutely fantastic… I think he’s going to be a very good world champion and I think they’re going to draw huge money with him.”

Paul is unlikely to be Cena’s final opponent as he is expected to lock horns with the returning Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza on September 20. His final match is set to take place in Boston, Massachusetts at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December although his final opponent has yet to be decided.

Logan Paul is currently embroiled in a rivalry with John Cena, but he has ambitions to eventually become as big a star in the pro wrestling business as the ‘Greatest of All-Time’. The 30-year-old has yet to win a world title but has major wins to his name, including over AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio.

The Maverick spoke on his Impaulsive podcast ahead of his Clash in Paris match: “John Cena is the greatest of all time. For now. I intend to be the greatest of all time, if not one of the greatest of all time. I want my name thrown in the hat. A way to do that is to go toe-to-toe with John Cena in every faucet of wrestling. That’s on the mic, that’s in the ring, that’s even backstage interacting with people — there’s a real thing when it comes to being a locker room leader.

Paul might need to take on a more demanding schedule if he is to fulfill his goal of being the next Cena. But he does want to become a leader backstage: “The guy who leads the company and is the face of the company is respectful to everyone in the crew, to everyone that makes this well-oiled machine work. John Cena has been that guy for 20–25 years and I fully believe I have the capacity to do all of that.”

WWE’s higher-ups have shown they are willing to place their faith in Paul because he continues to impress in the ring. He may struggle connecting with fans as a babyface though given that he is a natural heel.
