Nikki Bella looks to have stepped up as Becky Lynch’s new challenger after the pair’s brutal exchange on this week’s episode of RAW (August 4).
Lynch successfully defended her WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lyra Valkyria at SummerSlam. Her celebrations were cut short by Nikki, and they threw personal jabs at one another, including a dig from the Irish star over her new rival’s failed relationship with John Cena.
Brie Bella To Return For Nikki & Becky Lynch’s Feud?
Nikki and Becky’s RAW segment has kickstarted their feud, with many expecting to see them face one another for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at Clash in Paris (August 31). The Man often comes up with dastardly ways to remain as champion and escaped with her title by the skin of her teeth at SummerSlam.
Such shenanigans may not be possible defending against Nikki, especially if her sister, Brie Bella, were to be in the challenger’s corner. The Bella Twins were a successful double act throughout most of their WWE careers and could reunite.
Brie and Nikki recorded an episode of their Nikki & Brie Show during SummerSlam weekend, and fans chanted ‘Yes!’. This was a nod to Brie’s husband, who made the chant famous in WWE as Daniel Bryan and now in AEW as Bryan Danielson.
Nikki responded to those chants by teasing fans:
“You can bring ‘Yes’ chants to WWE.”
Brie replied:
“And I should.”
It’s an interesting turn of events, given that Brie has recently suggested WWE wouldn’t allow her back because of Bryan’s association with the rival company AEW. The former WWE Champion also claimed that the Stamford-based promotion had asked him not to use said chants while competing elsewhere.
Could Brie Betray Nikki?
The Bella Twins haven’t always been on good terms in WWE and Nikki shockingly turned on Brie during the latter’s singles match against Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam in 2015. A decade has passed and perhaps the other twin feels justice should be served and that her sister shouldn’t be thriving now back in the company.
Both Brie and Nikki left WWE in March 2023 after their contracts expired and they pursued other ventures, such as their podcast. Nikki returned at the Royal Rumble in February this year and was set to enter a feud with Liv Morgan until the latter’s injury.
Brie hasn’t returned since her contract expired, and she seemed to suggest that WWE were cautious over a return because of her relationship. She married Danielson on April 11, 2014, while they were both still employed with the company.
