WWE Fans Give Surprising Reactions To Logan Paul vs John Cena Match

Fans are defending WWE’s decision to book Logan Paul as one of John Cena’s final opponents on his Farewell Tour.

Paul will collide with Cena at Clash in Paris on August 31 after agreeing to face one another on SmackDown this past Friday (August 8). It’s a surprising turn of events, as many had envisioned Brock Lesnar to be the former WWE Champion’s opponent.

There have been significant questions asked of WWE’s use of celebrities in the past year, particularly following Travis Scott’s controversial appearance at WrestleMania 41. But Paul has been an active member of the roster since debuting in 2021 and has fought some of the company’s top stars, including Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

Cena is next up for the YouTube-turned-pro wrestler after the events that unfolded on SmackDown, including a tag match involving Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre in the main event. One fan wasn’t impressed when their Clash in Paris match was revealed: “This continues to be one of the worst retirement runs I have ever seen.”

Some fans hit out at those claims and defended Paul because he “actually cares” about the business. One wrote:

“Can we stop pretending Logan Paul isn’t great at this?”

Another fan spoke glowingly of the social media megastar:

“Logan Paul – I can’t believe I’m gonna say this – is gonna give Cena an amazing match. It’s stupid how good he is.”

One fan pointed out that the storyline worked:

“Top retiring babyface vs one of the main current heels? I don’t like Logan either, but this match makes sense for the story.”

Another added:

“I mean, it would be, if Logan Paul couldn’t wrestle but he’s actually good at this. He takes it seriously.”

Logan Paul has impressed fans with his remarkably quick adaptation to the pro wrestling business, showcasing incredible athleticism and ring psychology. He is one of WWE’s biggest stars because of his social media following and a match against Cena is likely to do big viewership numbers for the promotion.

Cena was in action at WrestleMania earlier this year, defeating Rhodes to become the Undisputed WWE Champion and a record 17-time WWE Champion. But he also had been blown away by Paul’s performance against AJ Styles at Allegiant Stadium, lavishing praise on him during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show:

“Logan Paul’s a stud. I texted him right away after his match and I’m like dude, you are innovative, from his entrance to holding a drone to thinking on another level like I’m going to swing big and try something different. I thought that was dope. Then his performance, he’s doing stuff that I couldn’t do at peak physical condition.”

He added:

“So regardless of if you like him or hate him, he’s doing athletic moves that are as good or better as any of the ‘wrestlers’ out there, any of the trained wrestlers.”

Paul has riled up fans throughout his WWE career and many detest seeing him beat top names like Styles and Kevin Owens. But Cena likes his carefree attitude:

“Here’s what I like most about Logan Paul — he doesn’t give two shits if ya’ll like him or not. He does it as himself. This dude is a stud. There’s going to come a time when ya’ll wake up to Logan Paul. He got here late. That shouldn’t be a penalty for him. He is a WWE superstar, he belongs in that ring with everybody else.”

The 30-year-old is a former United States Champion and many feel if any celebrity is going to win a world title during the TKO era it will be him. He has already challenged for the top prize in the bussiness, losing to Reigns at Crown Jewel in November 2022.
