SummerSlam 2025 is fast approaching, and the first ever two-night edition of the event could feature plenty of twists, shocks, and more, including a major heel turn. We will take a look at one of the biggest surprises that could take place when WWE heads to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on August 2 and 3. Many fans have suggested surprises such as a return and cash in from Seth Rollins, a double turn between Cody Rhodes and John Cena, and some shock upset victories up and down the card, but we’ll be heading over to the women’s division for this potential heel turn. It’s time for Bayley to turn bad.
Bayley May Turn Heel At SummerSlam 2025
- Becky Lynch will defend the Intercontinental Title against Lyra Valkyria.
- Bayley may interfere due to the No DQ stipulation.
- Bayley could cost Valkyria, turning heel in the process.
At SummerSlam 2025, Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria will meet to complete their trilogy of singles matches, battling over the Intercontinental Championship in a last chance match, contested under No DQ rules. Following on from their pair of showstealers at both the Backlash 2025 PLE and the Money in the Bank 2025 PLE, fans are in high anticipation for their meeting… that is until the party could be crashed by none other than Bayley.
We believe there is a strong chance that Bayley makes her presence known during the contest, especially since she’s had a large involvement in this storyline from the start. However, a twist could be on the cards, and Bayley may very well turn heel. Attacking Lyra Valkyria and costing her this match against Becky Lynch would be a massive heel move, and it would instantly pile a lot of heat onto Bayley, especially since it would mean that Valkyria cannot challenge for the gold again as long as Lynch is holding it. This twist wouldn’t be completely out of the blue and illogical, despite Bayley’s issues with Lynch, and it has actually been teased on WWE programming.
WWE Has Teased A Dark Side For Bayley
- Bayley was screwed out of WrestleMania and missed a spot at SummerSlam.
- Bayley has had issues with both Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria.
- A feud between Bayley and Valkyria may begin after SummerSlam.
Bayley has had a very tough year in WWE. She missed out on a match at WrestleMania 41 due to being attacked backstage by Becky Lynch, who stole her spot alongside Lyra Valkyria to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. She then went on to have her pursuits of the Intercontinental Title thwarted by Valkyria, who was also gunning for Lynch. And then in the lead up to SummerSlam she missed out on challenging Lynch, losing out to Valkyria in a number one contenders match, before then also coming up short when finally challenging for the tag belts on RAW. All these trials and tribulations have left Bayley feeling dejected, sad, and lost, and this has been shown in the growing frustrations in her character.
Bayley has attributed many of these failures to Valkyria, with heat growing week by week between the two former allies. This could certainly go two ways, with Bayley overcoming these demons to side with Valkyria and help her win back the title, or else give into her anger and take it out on Valkyria. This would kickstart a feud between the pair in the aftermath of SummerSlam, which could be very entertaining and full of quality. These teases are no accident, and a heelish Bayley may emerge at SummerSlam.
Bayley’s Biggest Successes Have Come As A Heel
- Bayley was a great heel between 2019 and 2020.
- She had dominant and entertaining world title reigns.
- Turning heel could bring Bayley back to the main event.
In a perfect world, the NXT version of Bayley came to the main roster and took the world by storm, existing as one of WWE’s purest babyfaces of all time. In actuality, her run as a good guy on the main roster ended up failing, prompting a heel turn that finally turned her fortunes around. In 2019, Bayley turned heel, unlocking a whole new side of her character. Suddenly, Bayley was confident and focused on the mic, entertaining and full of charisma, and her in-ring work also seemed to do nothing but improve. Her run as a bad guy between 2019 and 2020 was arguably some of the best work of her entire career, and she had some brilliant world title reigns as proof. She held the women’s division together in the pandemic, and this was all as a heel.
Despite a solid few months last year when she won the Royal Rumble and defeated Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 40, Bayley’s recent babyface turn hasn’t actually been too strong. She has lost much of her personality. She’s struggled to find a consistent spot on the card. And with other top babyfaces finding success, such as Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, and more, there aren’t too many spots for Bayley. Turning heel could once again unlock the main event potential in her, and it could be the key to her finding title success in WWE once again. This may all begin at SummerSlam.
