WWE NXT’s TV special, Homecoming, is looking like it’s going to be a stacked event. The special took shape over the course of this past Tuesday’s NXT episode. The episode featured several former NXT talent, including a surprise appearance by none other than Tyler Breeze.
Tyler Breeze And Rhea Ripley Come Back To The Brand
The Homecoming special, which will be airing live on CW on September 16, is the return to NXT’s birthplace — Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida. This is the first time an NXT event will be taking place at the location since September 2020. Before that, WWE NXT and Full Sail had a partnership from 2012 to 2020.
Anyway, during this past Tuesday’s episode, as mentioned, Tyler Breeze made his surprise return to the promotion. After Tavion Heights defeated Ethan Page in a flag match, Breeze came out to take selfies with the laid out Page with the Canadian Flag over him. For those who weren’t aware, Breeze is actually still signed with WWE for two reasons: as part of the UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, and he’s a writer for NXT.
Breeze will be facing Ethan Page with Page’s North American Title on the line. The last time Breeze was in an NXT ring was in June 2021.
The end of this week’s NXT shocked fans with three main roster returns to the developmental brand — Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.
WWE NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne wasn’t happy with her Fatal Influence stablemates for failing to win the number one contendership match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. In the process, Jayne declared herself the greatest NXT Women’s Champion, which caused former champions Stratton, Ripley, and Vaquer to come out and attack the stable. The attack set up a match for Stratton, Ripley, and Vaquer to face The Fatal Attraction.

Former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes made his return to help his frenemy, Trick Williams, against DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. DIY challenged Williams and Hayes for a match at Homecoming. Hayes was last in an NXT ring on April 16, 2024, where he lost to his former partner n a steel cage match.
Grayson Waller is also bringing the Grayson Waller Effect talk show back for the NXT special. His guests are going to WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi and Femi’s opponent, Ricky Saints. WWE is also teasing more surprises for Homecoming. So far, it seems like it will be a fun show for those who are feeling nostalgic.
