WWE’s Money in the Bank is a popular premium live event that has often been seen as one of the past decade’s biggest shows of the year. For many fans, it has eclipsed Survivor Series in terms of importance due to how influential the show can be on the calendar year if the right person is given the Money in the Bank briefcase.

How WWE Money In The Bank 2024 Aged Badly One Year Later
Money In The Bank 2024 delivered at the time, but a year later, it’s clear that many of WWE’s booking decisions didn’t land the way they hoped.
The entire event is based around the ladder matches, with the briefcase being a gimmick that has been going on since 2005. Since that time, many wrestlers have won the briefcase and transformed their careers, with the likes of Edge and CM Punk owing a lot to this gimmick. However, while the WWE Universe loves the concept and the surprise element that it provides, one man is reportedly not a fan—WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H.
Triple H Doesn’t Like The Money In The Bank Concept
Briefcase Cash-Ins Haven’t Felt Like Big Moments Lately
- He doesn’t like the briefcase as a prop.
- Money in the Bank no longer feels like a big priority.
- The match concept could start to lose importance.
Triple H has been around the wrestling industry long enough to have seen countless new gimmicks and ideas, including the Money in the Bank ladder match and the briefcase that comes with it. However, according to TC of WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio, Triple H isn’t a fan of the Money in the Bank briefcase as a prop.
This is something that could play into his creative decisions moving forward, and that might be a worrying sign for fans of this iconic match. Throughout Triple H’s time in charge of main roster creative, Money in the Bank hasn’t felt like as big of a priority as it had been in previous years.

13 Best Money In The Bank Ladder Matches, Definitively Reviewed
WWE has hosted over 30 Money In The Bank ladder matches, but some have been far better than others.
The lack of memorable moments with the briefcase do fall in line with Triple H not being a fan, and that’s something that people will need to keep an eye on this time around. As the years progress, the Money in the Bank could end up losing its importance with Triple H in charge, which would be a big change.
Triple H Managed To Avoid Money In The Bank During His Career
This Is One Gimmick The Game Had Nothing To Do With
- Triple H never competed in a Money in the Bank match.
- The Game was never cashed in on when he was a world champion.
- He hit a Pedigree on Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam in 2013 so Randy Orton could cash in.
Triple H’s feelings towards Money in the Bank aren’t anything new, as it seems like he has intentionally avoided the concept throughout his career, dating back to his own in-ring days. The Game was never in a Money in the Bank ladder match, despite the fact various other established main event stars have been.
Of course, ladder matches aren’t something Triple H is typically known for. Therefore, it makes sense that he wouldn’t be involved in one. However, he was also never cashed in on either, which is a lot more surprising given how frequently he was a World Champion throughout his career.
The only significant time he was involved with the briefcase was at SummerSlam 2013. This event saw him screw Daniel Bryan by hitting a Pedigree, setting the stage for Randy Orton to cash in and win the WWE World Heavyweight title.

This year, Triple H has put together a strong card for Money in the Bank, but his choices of competitors in the ladder matches are certainly interesting. There’s only Seth Rollins with a proven main event background in the men’s match, while the women’s is split in half regarding experience and youth. It proves that he could be taking the briefcase in a new direction or simply not placing the same level of focus upon it as WWE typically has done in the past.

Triple H Is Ultimately Right About Money In The Bank
WWE Fans Might Not Like To Hear It, But The Concept Is Outdated
- The gimmick no longer creates the same level of excitement.
- Triple H abolishing this match might not be a bad thing.
- It can make babyfaces look like heels.
Triple H’s disdain for the Money in the Bank might surprise some people, but the reality is that he is right. The concept has run since 2005, and it’s fair to say that it has become rather stale. Audiences no longer have the same level of excitement for a cash-in, and WWE is at the stage where it’s tough to come up with a fresh concept for doing that.
There are only so many storylines that can be done with this briefcase, and that creates a problem for Triple H and his creative team. While ladder matches are fun, and the cash-in usually gets a pop, the time in between can often be very awkward for the briefcase holder as they end up stuck in no man’s land.
On top of that, after someone cashes in, they can end up not feeling like worthy champions due to how they’ve won it. This is particularly problematic for babyfaces, as they instantly have to act like a heel to win. It’s a gimmick that has run its course, with everything surrounding it feeling stale, which is why Triple H is justified in his opinion.
