Travis Kelce is viewed as a player potentially entering the twilight of a storied NFL career, but the Kansas City Chiefs star feels full of energy entering the new season, in large part because of his new fiancee Taylor Swift.
Kelce and pop sensation Swift stunned both the sporting and entertainment worlds last month when they announced their engagement in a post on Instagram.
The 10-time Pro Bowler has been dating Swift since 2023 and, while Kelce has struggled to sustain the elite performance of years gone by in recent times, the future Hall of Fame tight end insists he feels much younger than 35, with his love life the main reason why.
Kelce faced questions about retirement after the Chiefs were blown out in Super Bowl 59 by the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of last season.
But he is set to play on the final year of his Chiefs contract in 2025 and, at a press conference ahead of their season opener with the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Kelce was predictably asked about his engagement.
“I got one more ring from it — two if we’re counting the first Super Bowl [while dating Swift],” he said.
“Ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun. It’s been exciting. Obviously, a lot more eyes, and I accept that. It’s just … I’m living life, living on a high.”
Asked if this campaign will be his last in the NFL, Kelce said: “It’s the last one on the contract right now, but I’ll tell you what, I’m feeling young and I’m feeling ready to rock, baby.”
