“Trainers, Loafers & Crocs” – WWE Fans on Roman Reigns’ Potential Clash in Paris Match

Roman Reigns looks set for a singles match at WWE’s Clash in Paris PLE on August 31, and his potential opponent is receiving a mixed response amongst fans on social media.

The OTC hasn’t competed in a one-on-one match since he defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat Match on RAW’s Netflix debut in January. He recently returned to team up with Jey Uso and defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in a SummerSlam tag team match.

It appears that Reigns will be in action later this month when WWE jets off to Paris, France, but he won’t be in the main event.

WWE Fans React To Roman Reigns’ Likely Clash in Paris Match

Roman Reigns returns Raw

Reigns is pictured on the Clash in Paris poster, and the expectation is that he’ll be on the matchcard. All signs point to the Tribal Chief facing The Vision’s Bronson Reed, who has been a thorn in his side as of late.

Reed has been collecting Reigns’ sneakers each time he’s attacked the former Undisputed WWE Champion, along with the rest of Seth Rollins’ faction. He has nicknamed himself ‘The Tribal Thief’, and he posed, pointing to the sky like the Head of the Table to close RAW this week.

RAW general manager Adam Pearce had booked Rollins in a fatal four-way match in his first PLE defence as World Heavyweight Champion. He’ll defend against Jey Uso, LA Knight, and CM Punk, which leaves Reigns without an opponent for the Clash in Paris PLE.

Reed seems to be the likeliest option amid uncertainty over a potential Breakker injury. One fan wrote on X:

“Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed seems to be the likely plan for Clash in Paris. Thoughts?”

Some fans are excited to see Reed get a significant singles match on a PLE, with one fan attending the show writing:

“Since I’m from there, I can guarantee you that People in France would be delighted to see Roman in action at Paris. As for Reed, he taunts the tribal chief with his “Shoelafala”, so retaliation is coming.”

One fan joked:

“Roman Reigns vs Bronson Reed in a TLC match.. Trainers, Loafers and Crocs.”

Another WWE fan hopes to see the pair battle one-on-one without any outside interference:

“Make it mostly an actually one vs one and push reed a bit, roman should still win though.”

There are some who aren’t too thrilled with the prospect of seeing Reigns face Reed because they feel he’s not main event calibre.

One wrote:

“Waste of a Roman match this guy is supposed to be in main events not doing charity work for jobbers.”

Another echoed that stance:

“Bronson Reed isn’t on Roman’s level to have a singles match with him at a PLE.”

Reigns was absent from this week’s episode of RAW as Rollins learned his fate at Clash in Paris and the world title will be on the line against Punk, Knight and Uso. The audience chanted for the OTC throughtout the show’s ending as The Vision left the trio laid out on the mat.

Reigns Wouldn’t Be Reed’s First Major Singles PLE Match

Bronson Reed Rollins Raw

Reed has grown into one of WWE’s biggest heels over the past year and that’s largely thanks to a career-making attack on his current stable’s leader Rollins last year. The Tribal Thief hit the Visionary with six Tsunamis to kick off a push that has resulted in him eventually joining the world champion’s stable.

Rollins got revenge on the Australian heavyweight during their feud last summer, defeating him at Crown Jewel and there was almost a foreshadowing of their alignment. While Reed showed frustration, his new ally acknowledged that he had to work extremely hard to get the win over the 330-pounder.

“I do not feel like I won… I want to take a second to give a little credit to Bronson Reed. … He brought every single thing that he had, he took everything that I had to dish out. He was violent, he was devious, he was vicious. He was everything that I expected and more. And I needed that to get to where I want to go” – Rollins in a WWE Digital Exclusive.

Any doubts over Reed performing well on the big stage should be put to bed by that performance as well as his outing at Survivor Series last year. He flew around the steel cage in a WarGames match, literally putting his body on the line and sustaining a broken talus bone in the Bloodline WarGames battle.
