There Are 4 Crucial Lessons WWE Has To Learn From AAA’s Worlds Collide

The WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event is officially in the history books, as stars from both shows took over The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California for a historic show. WWE’s acquisition of AAA was a big deal over WrestleMania weekend, and this was the first real step in the relationship between the two companies going forwards.

Predicting Every WWE Champion By The End Of 2025

Which WWE Superstar is most likely to be holding gold at the end of the year?

The show was a lot of fun, with fans enjoying seeing new stars, interesting gimmicks, and a different style within the WWE ring as lucha libre was front and center. With the show now done, there are several lessons that WWE must learn from it – both a mix of positive and negative lessons.

WWE Fans Love Silly Characters

Mr. Iguana Was The Most Over Man On The Card

Mr. Iguana WWE Worlds Collide 2025

  • Mr. Iguana’s gimmick would never be seen in WWE in the past.
  • His silly gimmick got over within seconds.
  • This is a sign that WWE can experiment with more silly gimmicks.

WWE doesn’t like typical ‘indie’ gimmicks that hurt realism, especially not over the last couple of decades. For instance, the likes of Orange Cassidy would be unlikely to have ever made it to WWE with the gimmick that he has. However, the Worlds Collide event allowed Mr. Iguana to showcase his skills and bizarre character, acting like a lizard and using his stuffed Iguana toy within his offense.

The WWE Universe connected to his absurdity in quite literally seconds, chanting his name and chomping at the bit to see him enter the ring. If WWE tried to experiment here and there and not take themselves as seriously, they could make some serious money with some sillier and more unique gimmicks.

WWE’s Luchador Wrestlers Are Painfully Bland

  • For the most part, WWE’s luchadors have always lacked character.
  • Worlds Collide showed how effective distinct characters can be.
  • WWE must learn from this and make changes.

The wrestlers of AAA all stood out when they were in the WWE ring, especially when compared to many of WWE’s luchador stars. The likes of Psycho Clown, Aero Star, Pagano, Mr. Iguana, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr, El Hijo del Vikingo, and more all looked unique, had different styles, showcased intensity, and in their promos during video packages showcased personalities.

TKO Is Destroying What We Love About WWE

The bottom line is all TKO cares about when it comes to WWE. This corporate greed will only hurt the business we all love.

Over the years, WWE’s lucha libre wrestlers have all felt like carbon copies of each other in terms of gimmick, hardly ever getting any sort of storylines to bring out different characters. Worlds Collide gave WWE a lesson to learn in how they present these sorts of wrestlers, and it should hopefully give them a kick up the behind to make an effort to have their characters not just as “x luchador”.

WWE Needs To Start Letting Other Companies Win

WWE Went 3-2 Over AAA At Worlds Collide

WWE AAA Worlds Collide 2025 Matches

  • With TNA and AAA, WWE always gets the last laugh.
  • WWE showcased so much of AAA’s history… but didn’t let them win overall.
  • It won’t hurt WWE to put other promotions over.

El Hijo del Vikingo might have stood tall at Worlds Collide, but out of the five matches, three were won by WWE superstars. On a night that was supposed to be a historic one for AAA, WWE couldn’t help but have the upper hand. Ethan Page retaining his title made sense, and handing Stephanie Vaquer a momentum-building victory ahead of Money in the Bank was fine, but the win for Legado Del Fantasma was absolutely pointless.

WWE has been working with outside promotions more, but for the most part it is WWE wrestlers who stand tall. The company is so prominent that losing more matches against wrestlers from AAA and TNA really does not matter, and it doesn’t hurt. However, it will hurt the likes of AAA. If the promotion stood tall overall on the night, it might convince more fans to go over and watch.

Lucha Libre Has A Place In WWE, And Worlds Collide Proved When

When Presented Well, Lucha Libre Feels Important

  • Lucha libre has always felt like an afterthought in WWE.
  • The audience at Worlds Collide loved seeing fast-paced action.
  • WWE must learn that different styles can be fully incorporated.

It was clear from the very first match on the card that lucha libre wrestling can be a draw, it can get fans invested, and it can fill out arenas. For so long, WWE has hardly tried to make the style mean something in the company, but they must learn that after Worlds Collide, there is certainly a place for it.

WWE should be a place where multiple styles around the world are showcased, and Worlds Collide was proof. The investment from fans in the wrestlers – even ones they are not familiar with – shows that, when built up, masked names and luchador stars can be draws and stars.
