Stephanie Vaquer injured? Report gives update on WWE RAW star ahead of Wrestlepalooza

Stephanie Vaquer is scheduled to face Iyo Sky for the vacant Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza next weekend despite missing RAW this past Monday. Her absence, which general manager Adam Pearce confirmed, led to question marks over her availability for her title match on September 20.

The 32-year-old has had to wait for her title opportunity after winning a battle royal at WWE’s Evolution PLE back in July. She was set to challenge Naomi for the Women’s World Championship before the former champion fell pregnant and was forced to vacate the title.

Adam Pearce withdrew Vaquer from the Clash in Paris PLE and instead booked her title match at Wrestlepalooza. But there had been some uncertainty over her status, given she missed RAW, although she did appear on NXT the next night.

Dave Meltzer gave an update on the situation while speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio: “She has a minor injury. That’s the situation, but I think she’s wrestling next week…I don’t know the whole story, but I was told by WWE that it’s a minor thing, it’s nothing to worry about, and she’s going to be doing matches as we advance.”

Vaquer will pull double duty next week, as things stand, as she’ll be teaming with Rhea Ripley and Tiffany Stratton at NXT Homecoming on Tuesday (September 16). The main roster trio face NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx.

La Primera will switch her focus to her title match with Iyo Sky at Wrestlepalooza, with the chance to become a world champion at stake. She has enjoyed a meteoric rise since arriving in WWE in October 2024, becoming an NXT Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s North American Champion.

Could Stephanie Vaquer’s Dream Opponent Be On The Agenda?

Stephanie Vaquer and Iyo Sky have been respectful ahead of their title match, and one would imagine they’ll go their separate ways once they battle at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are two of the top babyfaces in WWE’s women’s division, and it makes sense for Iyo to deal with her growing issues with Asuka.

That could mean Vaquer takes the title home and is handed her dream match in the near future which could solidify the South American star as a major player. She has previously expressed her desire to face Rhea Ripley, stating, “There are many amazing wrestlers, but Rhea Ripley for WrestleMania, because she has many experiences in WrestleMania.”

Ripley is one of WWE’s biggest stars who is on the same level as the likes of Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. A win over the former two-time Women’s World Champion would only further establish Vaquer as a megastar for the company.
