Stephanie Vaquer has responded to rumors that she is dealing with an injury as she prepares to face Iyo Sky for the Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza next Saturday (September 20). She was a notable absentee from WWE RAW on Monday before appearing on NXT the following night.
Stephanie Vaquer On Injury Concerns
It’s been over 60 days since Stephanie Vaquer won a battle royal match to become the number one contender for RAW’s Women’s World Championship. She was set to challenge Naomi for the gold at Clash in Paris, but the former champion fell pregnant and was forced to vacate the title.
RAW general manager Adam Pearce removed Vaquer from the Paris PLE and postponed her title opportunity so that he could find a suitable opponent. He opted for Iyo Sky, who lost her title at Evolution after Naomi cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase.
Their title match at Wrestlepalooza was booked but cast into doubt when Vaquer didn’t appear on RAW for a contract signing with Sky. Reports suggested she was dealing with a “minor injury”.
The 32-year-old has commented on her status ahead of RAW this Monday and the biggest match of her WWE career. She told Adrian Hernandez: “No, I saw social media. Sometimes many things are not real. There’s no injuries, I’m ready for Raw next Monday. So no, no injury. I’m good.”
This is excellent news for fans who are eager to see Vaquer battle Iyo in what many predict will be the match of the night at Wrestlepalooza. The pair are two of the best workers in the company and will square off on the same night that John Cena takes on Brock Lesnar and AJ Lee makes her in-ring return.
Stephanie Vaquer Teams With Fellow NXT Royalty On Tuesday
Next Saturday’s title match isn’t the only time Vaquer is set to be in action next week, as she’s also scheduled to compete at NXT Homecoming on Tuesday (September 16). She is one of three NXT alumni who will team together at Full Sail.
Vaquer will partner with Rhea Ripley and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton in a six-woman tag team match against current NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx. All three on the main roster side have held the NXT Women’s Championship.
But the Chilean is the only one to have held both the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Women’s North American Championship. She could be adding a Women’s World Championship to her trophy cabinet come next weekend.
