Sikandar Raza becomes top-ranked ODI all-rounder in latest ICC rankings

Zimbabwe all-rounder has claimed the top spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for all-rounders after strong performances in the two-match series against Sri Lanka in Harare.

Raza struck a quickfire 87-ball 92 in the opener and followed it up with an unbeaten 59 even as Zimbabwe lost both matches. His efforts helped him surpass Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai in the rankings.

The 39-year-old also moved up in the ODI batting rankings, climbing nine spots to 22nd thanks to his consecutive half-centuries.

Following their comprehensive 2-0 win over the Chevrons, Sri Lankan players enjoyed upward movement in the latest rankings. Pathum Nissanka, who had scores of 122 and 76 in the two games, surged to the 13th spot, while Janith Liyanage climbed to 29th in the ODI batting rankings. In the bowling rankings, pacers Asitha Fernando (up six spots to 31st) and Dilshan Madushanka (up eight spots to 52nd) were the biggest gainers among Sri Lankans.

Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj opened up a 31-point lead at the top of the ODI bowling rankings after picking four wickets in South Africa’s rout of England in the first one-day game of the three-match series.

Fellow South African Lungi Ngidi moved up five spots to joint-23rd, while England’s Jofra Archer rose to 19th in the rankings for ODI bowlers.

Though he was knocked off his perch in the ODI rankings for all-rounders, Nabi closed in on Hardik Pandya, the top-ranked all-rounder in T20Is, and claimed the second spot after claiming four wickets in three matches during the ongoing UAE tri-series.

Fellow Afghan Ibrahim Zadran moved up to 20th in the T20I rankings for batters, while Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem climbed to 22nd in the rankings for bowlers in the shortest format.
