“Should be World Champion” – Fans Fear WWE SmackDown Star’s Hype Has Faded

Jacob Fatu‘s recent booking is concerning fans, and they have warned Triple H that he is jeopardising the WWE SmackDown star’s main event potential. The Samoan Werewolf looked to be headed for a mega push after turning babyface earlier this year, but has been playing a bit-part role in recent weeks.

Jacob Fatu has been booked as a monster since arriving in WWE in the summer of 2024, destroying pretty much anyone who gets in his way. His incredible athleticism as a 300-pound heavyweight made him an instant fan favourite even while portraying a heel as part of the Bloodline saga.

The 33-year-old turned babyface earlier this summer after breaking away from Solo Sikoa‘s group and betraying the former leader of The Bloodline 2.0. This resulted in the pair feuding and Fatu dropping the United States Championship to Sikoa, much to the frustration of fans.

Many believed this came as a result of WWE wanting to fast-track Fatu to the main event scene, but his recent booking doesn’t indicate he will be in the world title picture anytime soon. He isn’t booked for the upcoming Wrestlepalooza PLE on September 20 and was also left off the Clash in Paris card at the end of August.

One fan blamed Triple H over the diminishing interest in the Samoan

“HHH doesn’t know how to book, this man should be a World Champion by now.”

Another fan wants to see him put his newfound friendship with the new United States Champion to one side:

“He needs to go after Sami. Stop being his friend.”

One suggested he is better off as a heel:

“Doesn’t work as a babyface.”

Some think he’s paid the price for his loss at SummerSlam to Sikoa:

“Him losing to Solo hurt him.”

Jacob Fatu has long been touted as a future WrestleMania main-eventer amid his meteoric rise in WWE, and it’s easy to forget it’s only been a year. But fans are rightfully worried that he could lose steam after becoming one of the most popular and hyped talents on the roster.

Cody Rhodes Suggested Jacob Fatu Has a Bright Future

Fans aren’t the only ones who have voiced their opinions on Jacob Fatu recently as Cody Rhodes also hailed the Samoan Werewolf earlier this summer. The WWE Champion called him “special” and suggested that this was the view of WWE’s higher-ups:”Jacob [Fatu] is really special. He feels like a little baby here and I want to make sure everything is right. He’s special. I know everyone here is incredibly impressed with Jacob, too. When something good happens for him, all of us are like, ‘Awesome.’”

It may just be a case of waiting for a solid storyline to come along, although perhaps moving to RAW could be hugely beneficial, given there are fresh heels to work with, such as the two Brons of The Vision. Many had hoped to see him square off with Roman Reigns in one-on-one competition while still involved in the Bloodline storyline.
