Real Madrid win secret friendly with not even club’s in-house TV channel revealing details

Real Madrid came from a goal down to beat Leganes in a behind-closed-doors friendly this morning.

It was Madrid’s first pre-season game due to the squad’s delayed return to training following their involvement in the Club World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals before losing to Paris Saint-Germain.

The fixture was not announced beforehand and even the club’s in-house TV channel did not record any of the action.

Nevertheless, Madrid-based daily AS managed to get some details on what appeared a good test for Xabi Alonso’s side.

Leganes went ahead through youngster Sule before Madrid hit back to win 4-1 in a game played at Madrid’s Valdebebas training centre.

Alonso fielded a strong XI which included new signing Alvaro Carreras at left-back and captain Dani Carvajal, who continues to make a strong recovery from a serious knee injury that saw him miss the bulk of last season.

Leganes boss Paco Lopez played a young side that featured six first-team squad members with the remaining XI made up with players from the youth team.

The identity of the Madrid goalscorers remains a mystery other than the fact ESPN have reported youngster Thiago Pitarch, who came off the bench, did get on the scoresheet.
