It appears that the Clearwater Police are still investigating the cause of the death of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. This is just a few weeks after the medical examiner stated that Hogan passed away from a heart attack. Now, according to TMZ Sports, Hogan might have been a victim of medical malpractice, and the police are looking into those allegations.
Bombshell Revelations From 911 Response Police Report
Hulk Hogan passed away at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on July 24 at the age of 71. Law enforcement sources have told TMZ Sports about the Clearwater PD police report regarding the 911 response to Hogan’s home. This report, which the outlet says is “on lockdown,” states that there was an occupational therapist in the room, who allegedly told responding officers that Hogan was a victim of medical malpractice.
The therapist believes that during one of Hogan’s recent operations, the surgeon “severed his phrenic nerve.” According to WebMD, the phrenic nerve “controls the diaphragm, the dome-shaped muscle that is primarily responsible for breathing.” Sources there were at the scene told TMZ that Hogan “did not have a chest-clenching episode before his passing, rather, he merely stopped breathing.”
The police released a statement to the outlet on Thursday, confirming that they are investigating the matter. It reads:
“We have been in communication with family members — including his son, Nick, and daughter, Brooke. The unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that. All of this takes time. The Hogan family has been appreciative of our efforts and our communication with them.”
Not only that, but Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, reached out to TMZ on Thursday, too. She confirmed that his phrenic nerve was “compromised” during one of his recent surgeries. She also reportedly told the outlet that an autopsy on Hogan has been done, though she declined to reveal anymore about it other than that Hogan has yet to be cremated.
Brooke Hogan Comments On Body Cam Footage
There is said to be body camera footage of police officers on the scene discussing the alleged malpractice among themselves. TMZ has not confirmed, but only assumes that the conversation between the therapist and the officers is also on the footage.
It’s worth noting that just one day before TMZ’s bombshell report, Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, had commented about the body cam footage. She said in a now-deleted Instagram post that she had been urged by people who were at the scene to demand to see the 911 footage. She wrote:
“I’ve 100% gotten legit calls from professionals- from police officials to nurses that were supposedly with my dad on the day of his death telling ME I need to see body cam footage and I need to get a hold of the 911 tapes because they supposedly contain information that could potentially shed enough light to change the narrative we/I/everyone’s been hearing.” (h/t: Parade)
The 37-year-old also told her Instagram followers that her “hands were tied” and she has no say regarding her dad. As previously reported, it was the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center that ruled the manner of Hogan’s death natural.
