Pat McAfee to Return at WWE Wrestlepalooza PLE in Indianapolis

WWE has been doing a lot of press since Wednesday’s big announcement that their deal with ESPN starts in September with the Wrestlepalooza PLE on September 20. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque was a guest on the latest edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter, and he made a big announcement concerning WWE RAW Commentator Pat McAfee.

Triple H Reveals Pat McAfee Will Return For Next PLE

The Wrestlepalooza PLE is taking place in Pat McAfee’s hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, so it’s not surprising that Triple H announced that McAfee would be attending the event. The WWE CCO didn’t confirm if Pat would be behind the announce desk, but did say that he would “light the place up.” He said:

“September 20th, Wrestlepalooza, in the home of the one and only Pat McAfee, who’s like family to us. Pat will be there. He’s going to light the place up. It’s going to be exciting.”

The only thing that WWE has confirmed about Wrestlepalooza is that it’s taking place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse and John Cena will be in the main event. As noted, it’s been teased that Cena will be facing Brock Lesnar. Before that, Cena is going to be facing Logan Paul on August 31 at Clash in Paris. It’s the last main roster PLE to stream on Peacock.

McAfee has been away from Monday Night RAW since the June 9 episode. In July, the former NFL Indianapolis Colts punter opened up on his show that he had to take a leave of absence because of serious mental and physical exhaustion. He said:

“I got real tired, man. I crashed, I hit a wall. My brain is not operating right now. I talked to others who had maybe experienced mental exhaustion before… and I was like, ‘Oh my god, this is it. I’ve finally hit it.’”

During the same episode of The Pat McAfee Show, he praised WWE for understanding that he needed some time away. He said:

“They understand that people get like, ‘Hey, yeah, we understand you might need to take a break.’”

McAfee has ties with ESPN. It’s where his show airs, and once college football starts, he’s part of the College GameDay panel. That and his work with WWE is a huge workload. Hopefully, when McAfee returns, he’s well rested and refreshed.
