“Needs to be Silenced” – Fans Make One Wish To WWE Regarding AJ Lee Return

AJ Lee is set to make her WWE return, and fans are urging the company not to make one significant change to her presentation. The former three-time Divas Champion could be back on our screens as early as this Friday on SmackDown (September 5).

Fans Hope WWE Don’t Make One Huge Change To AJ Lee

AJ Lee retired from WWE back in April 2015 and has since pursued other ventures, including becoming a New York Times best-selling author. She is one of the most important individuals in the history of women’s wrestling, shining bright during the PG era when she met her real-life husband.

CM Punk had left WWE a year earlier after growing disillusioned with life in the promotion. But hell froze over at All State Arena in Chicago at Survivor Series in November 2023, and he made a shock return after a nine-year absence, although fans soon noticed a change had taken place regarding The Best in the World’s presentation.

The 46-year-old’s ‘Cult of Personality’ theme music has been remastered by the band ‘Living Colour’. This was to ensure proceeds from WWE went straight to the band rather than their record label.

It’s safe to say that fans are fearful that WWE’s music production partners ‘Def Rebel’ will alter AJ Lee’s theme once she returns. Her theme song ‘Let’s Light It Up’ was produced by the company’s legendary former composer Jim Johnston and sung by American singer-songwriter Kari Kimmel.

One fan hilariously posted a mock up of how her theme may sound if given a touch up by Def Rebel. They wrote:

“Oh and I SWEAR if WWE def rebel AJ Lee’s iconic theme song I WILL BE THROWING HANDS.”

This prospect soon spread like wildfire with one fan responding:

“NAH ain’t no way this is happening. Def Rebel needs to be SILENCED. They not about to ruin a DIVAS return.”

One fan started to worry:

“Can we not put WWE changing AJ’s theme in the air it’s literally perfect as it is.”

Another echoed those sentiments:

“If they Def Rebel AJ’s theme I’m gonna be so pissed.”

Fans are reportedly set to witness AJ Lee make her return on SmackDown or at least get an announcement regarding her participation at Wrestlepalooza (September 20). She is likely to come to her husband CM Punk’s rescue in his ongoing war with Seth Rollins and his wife Becky Lynch.

WWE Stars & Fans Frustrated With Def Rebel-Produced Themes

Fans aren’t the only ones who have grown weary of hearing the current roster be handed theme music that doesn’t fit their characters or have a very generic sound. It was reported back in February that many of the WWE talent have “expressed frustration” with their music and “requested” reverting to previous themes, per Fightful Select.

Def Rebel has been working with WWE as their music producers since late 2018 and has produced several iconic theme songs. Roman Reigns’ ‘Head of the Table’ was a work of art while Seth Rollins’ ‘The Vision’ has fans chanting along as the World Heavyweight Champion acts as a conductor.

There have been some absolute stinkers, though, that have given Def Rebel a bad reputation with fans fearful of their favorite new WWE stars getting ‘Def Rebel’d. The Judgement Day went from Alter Bridge’s catchy ‘The Other Side’ to a peculiar hip-hop track that sounds like a karaoke version of DMX.

Another that may have fans rushing for the mute button is DIY’s ‘It’s Our Moment’ theme, which essentially replaced Johnny Gargano’s ridiculously entertaining NXT ‘Rebel Heart’ theme. Many fans attending Royal Rumbles in recent years have been puzzled by the lack of distinctiveness in the entrants’ theme songs.
