It took them a while, but WWE eventually came around and decided to start using the names of WCW and ECW PPVs. It owns them after all, and despite lying dormant for decades, they still hold water with a lot of older fans. While most of the revived PPV names belonged to WCW, Heatwave is one ECW made famous. WWE used it for the first time in 2022, making it an NXT PLE, and it has remained a part of the third brand’s calendar ever since. NXT Heatwave returns for the fourth consecutive year, and we’ve got everything you need to know about the show below.
When Is NXT Heatwave 2025?
With a name like Heatwave, this particular PLE needs to take place at the height of the summer. After moving from August to early July in 2024, NXT Heatwave returns to its regular slot for 2025, taking place on Sunday, August 24, 2025. That’s the same day as AEW Forbidden Door, but the AEW show will be taking place earlier in the day. The main card will begin at 7 pm EST.
How Can I Watch NXT Heatwave 2025?
WWE kicked off 2025 but mixing up where you can watch its programming, and it will be doing the same to kick off 2026. For the rest of 2025, however, WWE’s PLEs will air live wherever you regularly watch them. That means Heatwave will be live and on-demand on Peacock in the US, and Netflix, along with all other WWE programming in most other places around the world.
Where Is NXT Heatwave 2025 Taking Place?
The NXT locker room will be heading to Lowell, Massachusetts for Heatwave, with its next PLE taking place in the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Fitting that the brand is taking Heatwave back to the north east, what with the show’s ECW roots. Even though the venue only seats 2,800 fans, there are still tickets available for less than $50.
Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe
Blake Monroe saw the chance to make a name for herself upon arrival in NXT by buddying up with Jordynne Grace. Monroe then seized the opportunity to make an even bigger name for herself by turning on Grace on a huge stage, Evolution, costing her a chance to win the NXT Women’s Title. That has forced Grace to put her title hunt on pause as she seeks payback, and she will get that payback at Heatwave.
There’s nothing tangible on the line in this one. Just Grace looking for revenge, and Monroe attempting to prove she was right to pick a fight with the former Knockouts Champion and quickly establish herself as won of the top stars in NXT. I don’t think it’s quite time for Monroe to do that yet, and all signs point to Grace winning this one.
Jacy Jayne vs. Ash By Elegance vs. Masha Slamovich For The TNA Knockouts Championship
Unsatisfied with dominating NXT along, Jacy Jayne extended her reach to TNA, having her cronies help her become a double champion as she is now both the NXT Women’s Champion and the TNA Knockouts Champion. At Heatwave, two of TNA’s top female stars will come to NXT try and beat Jayne and take their promotion’s top title back.
That’s probably what’s going to happen too, with WWE having a couple of reasons for making this a triple threat match. First of all, it gives Jayne’s helpers more plates to spin and allows them to interfere without risking a disqualification. More importantly, it means Jayne can lose the Knockouts Title without getting pinned. My guess is Masha Slamovich wins by beating Ash by Elegance.
Hank & Tank vs. DarkState For The NXT Tag Team Championships
Hank and Tank have proved themselves capable NXT Tag Team Champions, but they’ve never come up against anything quite like DarkState. The quartet has been wreaking havoc throughout NXT and TNA, and at Heatwave, they will have the opportunity to lay claim to some gold while continuing their cross-promotional attack.
The champs assumed they were in the driver’s seat by being the ones to issue this challenge, but that was quickly flipped when DarkState neglected to inform anyone which of their members will be participating in the match. Hank and Tank will be on the back foot from the moment the bell rings, and will likely end up losing their championships.
Jaida Parker vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice In A No One Contender Match
Jayne is likely enjoying being a double champion, but it comes with its pitfalls. While her focus is on trying to keep hold of the Knockouts Title at Heatwave, three of NXT’s top female stars will be vying for the opportunity to challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship – Lola Vice, Jaida Parker, and Kelani Jordan.
WWE clearly thinks very highly of all three of these Superstars, and I can see all of them becoming NXT Women’s Champion eventually. After signing a new deal recently, though, it seems Vice is the one that’s next in line to get the push. Expect her to win this and take a run at Jayne’s title in the near future.
