Marc Guehi is one of the Premier League’s most in-demand players, having attracted interest from reigning champions Liverpool this summer. He has impressed with his physicality in the English top-flight, tussling with some of the most formidable forwards, including Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

The 25-year-old might be on his way to Anfield after agreeing personal terms with Liverpool (per GIVEMESPORT), but he may also have his sights set on an eventual WrestleMania main event.

Guehi recently spoke to BBC Sport about his love for WWE, a passion that dates back to his childhood. He is seemingly up-to-date with the product, as he pointed out RAW’s big Netflix move: “I’d love to be a WWE wrestler. Growing up, watching WWE. It’s on Netflix. I’ve seen some pay-per-views. I would love to be a WWE wrestler. It can be dangerous, but the performance side of it… I’m a good waffler on the mic… making people believe you’re the bad guy or the good guy.”

The England star isn’t the first footballer to have spoken of their desire to swap jerseys for singlets, potentially. Some have even dipped their toe into the pro wrestling business.

Former Football League striker Adebayo Akinfenwa (above) was keen on becoming a wrestler after hanging up his boots. The 230-pounder would have been a powerhouse that could stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Brock Lesnar.

Will Triple H Bring WrestleMania To The UK?

While football (or soccer) is the most popular sport in the UK, there is also significant interest in WWE, as evidenced by the record-breaking attendance numbers that have been achieved with each visit. Superstars are currently in Europe ahead of Clash in Paris next Saturday (August 31) and this past Friday’s SmackDown took place in the Republic of Ireland.

Becky Lynch and John Cena were among those to receive huge pops, and that is a common occurrence for the roster whenever they visit Europe and the UK. This passionate fanbase is eager for Triple H to book a WrestleMania PLE on British shores, having teased them when meeting London mayor Sadiq Khan back in July 2024.

Khan is keen for Mania to take place in the English capital, but talk of this coming to fruition has quietened over the past year. WrestleMania 42 is set to be hosted by Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, for a second year in a row.

Guehi and other footballers who follow WWE might have to do some long-distance travelling to watch the Show of Shows. There are suggestions that Saudi Arabian officials are also eager to bring Mania to the Middle East.
