Manchester City have reportedly agreed personal terms with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma ahead of club-to-club talks with Paris Saint-Germain.
The news by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano comes after current No1 James Trafford’s costly error in City’s 2-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on Saturday.
After finding themselves 1-0 down to Brennan Johnson’s opener, Spurs went 2-0 up just before half-time when Trafford played the ball inside his own box to an opposition player, allowing Joao Palhinha to find the net.
After the game at the Etihad, Guardiola refuses to guarantee Trafford, who re-signed from Burnley this summer, of a regular starting place this season.
“Trafford made a good first game,” Guardiola said of the 21 year-old goalkeeper.
“I decide [for him] to make another [and] continue. When I take decisions, normally in the first part of the season, not just for the keeper as the keeper is a special position, of course, to have more consistency in the goal, but for all the players – when you play one or two games, and everybody thinks, OK, this is the start line-up, these are the players that are going to play.
“I learned for many years that with this amount of games, everybody will play.”
Romano’s report indicates that Donnarumma’s arrival in Manchester is dependent on Ederson’s future after being linked with a move to Galatasaray.
The speculation over the Brazilian’s future has led to him losing his starting spot in goal to Trafford.
PSG are reportedly willing to allow Donnarumma to leave for a fee under the £43.3m (€50m) initially requested.
The Italian has been frozen out by the Champions League winners since they decided to sign French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Ligue 1 rivals Lille.
