So what did AAA break on Saturday? As per the press release, it was the most-viewed and highest-grossing TripleMania in event history. That’s a big feat, since the event has been around since 1993.

TripleMania XXXIII was streamed on WWE and AAA’s YouTube channels in Spanish and English. According to WWE, in the first 24 hours, it was watched by more than 4.3 million viewers. The peak live concurrent audience was at a whopping 614,000. The crowd total at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City was 19,691, not only making it the highest attendance for any Mexican lucha libre show this year, but additionally setting a new record for AAA for an all-time gate record.

Social media and merchandising records were also broken. TripleMania XXXIII had the highest-ever merchandise sales in the promotion’s history. A record 208 million views were generated across official AAA and WWE social platforms. TripleMania did well on the social media site X, too, with it trending as a No.1 topic in both the US and Mexico on Saturday.

What Happened At TripleMania XXXIII?

It should be no surprise that the event did so well because of all the memorable moments that happened this past Saturday. One moment that was all over social media happened during the Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Raquel Rodriguez) versus Mr. Iguana, Niño Hamburguesa, and Lola Vice.

Mr. Iguana, who is a fan favorite, is known to wear an iguana puppet during matches. Well, Finn Balor decided to get on his level and brought out a puppet version of his Demon persona, Demonito. It was a fun and quirky moment from the show. The match ended with Judgment Day getting the win over Mr. Iguana, Vice, and Hamburguesa.

Speaking of the Judgment Day, Dominik Mysterio was also at the show and in a Four-Way match for the AAA Mega Championship. AJ Styles made a surprise appearance to make sure that Mysterio didn’t win the title. El Hijo del Vikingo ended up defeating Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano to retain the AAA Mega Championship.

What else happened? The return of WWE Superstar Omos sent shock waves. He made his surprise during the Copa Bardahl gauntlet match, which he won by eliminating La Parka. Clips of Omos’ return were shared throughout social media not because of that win, but because of him standing next to AAA star Mircoman. Wrestling fans were in awe at the height difference between the two — a seven-foot-three Omos versus a three-foot-three Mircoman.

Pagano and Psycho Clown won the AAA World Tag Team Titles against Los Garzo in a street fight, and a new AAA Latin American Champion was crowned. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated El Mesías to become the new champion. Flammer also retained her AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against Natalya and Faby Apache.
