A WWE Hall of Famer thinks Logan Paul will be a bigger hero than John Cena and The Rock once he eventually turns babyface. The YouTube megastar is the most successful celebrity to take up pro wrestling, although he still he has yet to fully win over WWE’s fanbase.
Logan Paul Told He Can Be Bigger Than John Cena & Rock
Logan Paul has been with WWE since the summer of 2022 and has quickly got to grips with the business both in the ring and as a character. He came in for huge praise for his match against John Cena at Clash in Paris despite losing to the 17-time world champion.
Cena initially took his time getting over with fans at the very start of his career, but a change in his gimmick resulted in arguably the most popular personality in WWE history. The Rock also encountered issues resonating with the audience upon arriving on the main roster, but his transformation into the Great One led to greatness.
The 30-year-old still has room to grow, but Sgt. Slaughter believes he can become WWE’s answer to Cena and Rock. He told Sportskeeda’s Bill Apter: “He’s a natural. He’s at home. It takes a long time to make that ring your second home. When you walk in there and become that character, it’s night and day. If he continues, I don’t know how long he’ll continue, but John Cena is leaving. The Rock makes appearances, but there is no real superstar right now. Once he establishes himself as the biggest villain, he’ll be the biggest hero of all time. I think he’ll surpass every hero we’ve ever had in this business.”
The Maverick has been booked around the main event scene but has yet to hold a world title. He is one of the biggest heels in the company but Slaughter suggested he can still take it up a notch before a landscape-changing babyface turn: “Logan Paul has to be the biggest villain of all time, and when the time is right, someone has to look out because he’s going to turn into the hero and they’re going to blow the roof off.”
Paul has proven to be a natural as a heel because of the controversial life he lives outside the ring as a social media star. He often encounters plenty of boos from fans when cutting a promo or making his entrance.
Slaughter wishes he could manage the former United States Champion to help further develop him: “He’ll be better than all of us. He’s only had about 30 matches, and he’s already main evented. I wish I could go back and be his manager or something. Just show him a couple of hitches he needs to fix. He has everything else. He can do everything they ask him to do, he just doesn’t have the psychology of what it takes to be that villain.”
John Cena Hailed ‘Underrated’ Logan Paul
Logan Paul has already spoken about wanting to replace Cena as the face of WWE, stating he wants to be the “greatest of all time”. He has continued to receive glowing verdicts from past and present WWE names, including Cena himself.
The 48-year-old waxed lyrical earlier this year by predicting that Paul would hold a world title in the future. He said during a Q&A at a Fan Expo in Chicago: “I think he’s underrated. I think he gets a bad rap. He’s not an outsider. He belongs in WWE. I think his best days are still ahead of him, he’s got championships in his future.”
Paul has challenged for the world title on several occasions but came up short, including against Cody Rhodes earlier this year. But it might not be too long until he is showing off a WWE Championship on his Impaulsive podcast or while attending one of his brother, Jake Paul’s boxing fights.
