Leeds sign Okafor from AC Milan

Noah Okafor claimed it was an “easy decision” to leave AC Milan for Leeds after signing a four-year deal at Elland Road this morning.

The Swiss international joins Leeds for a fee in the region of £17.3million and becomes their ninth signing of the summer.

Okafor emerged as Basel before joining RB Salzburg in January 2020. A subsequent move to Milan saw him struggle for regular game time but a loan switch to Napoli did enable him to claim a Serie A winners’ medal last season due to his four appearances for Antonio Conte’s men.

Napoli declined an option to make the deal permanent but Leeds had no concerns and moved to snap up the 25-year-old.

Okafor excited to start Premier League adventure

Okafor told LUTV: “I think it’s an amazing day, I’m really excited.

“As a kid, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. That’s why for me it was quite an easy decision.

“So I said, yeah, my football suits the Premier League, this is like a dream come true. I can’t wait to step on the field.

“I heard that the Premier League is the best league in the world, it’s so intense. I have loads of friends that played there or are playing there.

“I’m really, really excited. I can’t wait, like I said before. I’m also ready for this new challenge.”

Leeds started life back in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Everton on Monday night courtesy of Lukas Nmecha’s contentious late penalty.
