Karrion Kross and Scarlett have told fans to say it again after Triple H misinterpreted a “We Want Kross” chant for the returning Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.
WWE’s chief content officer appeared on the SummerSlam post-show to reflect on the first-ever two-night event in the PLE’s history. He was met with a chant from fans that he responded to by telling them that they’d “got Brock”.
Triple H sat on a panel alongside Big E, Joe Tessitore and Peter Rosenborg when fans started making their voices heard. Cameras panned to the audience in the background at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Game seemed to interpret the crowd chanting “we want Brock”, but the consensus is that they were calling for Kross. He said:
“You want Brock, you’ve got him.”
Kross responded to a fan who suggested that Triple H had pawned off the chant with a reply on X:
“Unreal. They write the scripts… But the fans write the truth. Thank you, Tick tock.”
The 40-year-old’s partner and valet, Scarlett, also chimed in:
“If they didn’t hear it… say it again.”
Speculation is growing over Kross and Scarlett’s futures with the company amid their contract situations. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported in July that their deals were up in August and that neither had been approached about a renewal.
Kross was in action on night one of SummerSlam but suffered a third loss to rival Sami Zayn, which could be his final WWE match if his contract expires. This came a day before Lesnar made a shock return and attacked John Cena after two years away from the business.
WWE Hall of Famers, Including DDP, “Want Kross”
The “we want Kross” chants are nothing new, as they’ve been heard around arenas on pretty much every episode of Monday night RAW he’s appeared on. The chant can even be heard when he’s featured in backstage segments as fans make it clear they are backing the former NXT Champion.
It’s not just the WWE Universe that supports Kross and Scarlett, though, as legends such as Diamond Dallas Page see the vision. Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, DDP, gave a glowing verdict back in April while Lex Luger nodded along (via Ariel Helwani):
“Karrion Kross is one of the most talented, his beautiful wife, I mean they are a great team together. I can see that kid at some point getting that big break.”
John Bradshaw Layfield knows all about character transformations but little about getting fans onside because he was such a detested heel. But the former WWE Champion said back in April that he was a fan of Kross and admired his ability to use social media to gain more popularity (via Something To Wrestle With):
“It’s really unique what he’s doing, I admire what he’s doing… You can do so much with social media. I think you can hurt yourself — and I think a lot of guys do — or you can help yourself. And I think guys like Karrion are doing a wonderful job with that.”
He added:
“He’s obviously a very smart guy, and I think he’s doing — I love what he’s doing. I think it’s fun. I don’t know where he’s going with it. I don’t know if he has a plan. I feel like he probably does, but it’ll be interesting to see what happens.”
One of Triple H’s former DX stablemates, X-Pac, had advised his close friend to give Kross the ball when speaking to Ariel Helwani two months ago:
“He’s got all this talent, a hell of a look… Give him the ball. See how far he runs with it.”
Triple H played a crucial role in Kross’s return to WWE in August 2022, bringing him back to the company after he was released at the end of Vince McMahon’s tenure. His rise in fan support has resulted in singles matches on PLEs in recent months, but his defeat to Zayn at SummerSlam has fuelled talk that he could be departing again.
