India A women registered their first win of the tour Down Under, beating Tahlia McGrath-led Australia A side by three wickets in the opening One-Day match at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Wednesday.
The win comes after India A lost all three T20s.
Chasing 215, India A reached the target in 42 overs thanks to Yastika Bhatia’s 59 and valuable contributions from Shafali Verma (36) and Dhara Gujjar (31).
Raghvi Bisht remained unbeaten on 25 and made sure India A finished the match without slip-ups after Australia A threatened to make a comeback during the middle overs.
Earlier, captain Radha Yadav picked three wickets while Titas Sadhu and Minnu Mani took two each to bowl out the host for 214.
Anika Learoyd was left stranded at 92 as she ran out of partners from the other end. Learoyd was provided able support by Rachel Trenaman who scored 51 before getting run out.
The sides will play two more One-Day games at the same venue on August 15 and August 17 before a one-off unofficial four-day Test at the Allan Border Field starting August 21.
