India will kick off its Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Wednesday.

The reigning T20 World Cup winner will be looking to add another title to its cabinet, having won the inaugural T20 Asia Cup in 2016.

The UAE last played in the 2016 edition, having triumphed in a preliminary qualifying stage, but exited the competition in the following group stage.

India vs UAE T20I Head to head record:

India and the UAE have played each other only once in T20I history, during the Asia Cup 2016 match at Mirpur in Bangladesh.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, the UAE was restricted to 81 for nine in its 20 overs with each of India’s six bowlers picking up a wicket.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, India’s leading wicket-taker in the Men’s Asia Cup T20, picked two wickets conceding just eight runs in his four-over spell. Shaiman Anwar top-scored for the associate side, scoring 43 runs in 48 balls with three fours and a six.

Left-arm spinner Pawan Negi made his India debut during the encounter, picking up the wicket of Muhammed Usman.

In reply, India coasted to a nine-wicket win with 59 balls remaining, thanks to a quick-fire opening burst from Rohit Sharma (39 off 28 balls) and a 14-ball 25 from Yuvraj Singh.
