IND vs ENG, 4th Test: Jadeja-Washington partnership breaks 28-year-old record for India

Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar added up more than 100 runs for the fifth wicket on the fifth day of the fourth Test between India and England in Manchester.

Their partnership is now the highest fifth wicket stand for India in the final innings of an away Test. The previous record belonged to Mohammed Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly, who put together 110 runs against Sri Lanka in 1997.

This is only the fourth time there’s been a 100-plus partnership by an Indian pair in such a scenario.

Highest fifth-wicket partnership in last innings of an away Test:

1) Washington Sundar-Ravindra Jadeja – 121** vs England, Manchester 2025

2) Azharuddin-Sourav Ganguly – 110 vs Sri Lanka, Colombo 1997

3) VVS Laxman-Sachin Tendulkar – 109 vs Sri Lanka, Colombo 2010
