“I Was Scared” – WWE Hall of Famer Warns John Cena About Brock Lesnar

John Cena has been warned about the carefree Brock Lesnar ahead of their match at WWE’s next PLE Wrestlepalooza on September 20. The pair reignite a rivalry that is among the fiercest of Cena’s storied career.

Brock Lesnar made a shock return at SummerSlam, attacking John Cena after Cody Rhodes defeated the 17-time world champion in the main event. The Beast hit two F5’s and was at it again on SmackDown this past Friday, costing his longtime rival the United States Championship against Sami Zayn.

They will now square off next Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, in Lesnar’s first match since returning from a two-year absence. He was named in the ongoing lawsuit against Vince McMahon and had subsequently been kept off WWE TV.

Lesnar will be one of the final opponents of Cena’s career, which he will officially call time on in December. He is most certainly the toughest obstacle for the Greatest of All Time to overcome, given the carnage we have seen between them both in the past.

Rey Mysterio knows all too well how brutal it can be competing against Lesnar. The WWE Hall of Famer gave his take on the Wrestlepalooza match while speaking on RAW Recap, and first delved into Cena and Rhodes’ classic: “The last match that Cody (Rhodes) and Cena had at SummerSlam was incredible, I really enjoyed it. I remember texting both Cody and John and said ‘really good match guys I really enjoyed it from home congratulations to both of you.”

The Master of the 619 then turned the focus to Lesnar: “Now, Brock is a different beast though. God damn, Brock, he doesn’t care if you’re on your way out or if you just came in or if you’re John Cena. Brock is from another planet and I honestly didn’t realise that I was scared of Brock until I stepped into the ring with him for the first time and I was like ‘damn this dude is huge’.”

Mysterio and Lesnar first met in one-on-one singles competition during the Ruthless Aggression era on SmackDown. But their most recent and only encounter on PPV/PLE came at Survivor Series in 2019. The Ultimate Underdog came up short both in size and in competition despite a then-babyface Dominik Mysterio trying to help his father.

Brock Lesnar has been confirmed to appear on this Friday’s episode of SmackDown (September 12) at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. It will likely be the first time fans properly hear from the Beast since returning at SummerSlam.

The 48-year-old has yet to explain why he is making John Cena’s life a living hell in the latter stages of the Farewell Tour. His only comment amid the destruction has ‘Hey John, I’ll see you at Wrestlepalooza b**ch’ which seemingly gave Nick Aldis no choice but to book the match.

Their match is being billed as “One Last Time” which is an intriguing aspect of this short-lived war. The former 10-time WWE world champion isn’t retiring in December, unlike Cena which stirs up speculation over his next rivalry or even if he gets placed back into the world title picture.
