Ireland all-rounder Curtis Campher became the first-ever male cricketer to pick five wickets in five balls in a professional match on Thursday. The first to record such instance was Zimbabwe’s woman cricketer Kelis Ndhlovu, who claimed five wickets in consecutive deliveries for Zimbabwe U-19 against Eagles Women in a domestic T20 tournament in 2024.
Campher achieved this feat during an Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy in Ireland playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors.
The seamer picked his five wickets across two overs as Warriors went down from 87 for five to 88 all out, chasing a 189-run target.
Off the fifth ball of the 12th over, he removed Jared Wilson before getting Graham Hune out the next ball. In his following over, he picked up a hat-trick, claiming Andy McBrine, Robbie Millar, and Josh Wilson.
Campher is one of the six bowlers to pick four wickets in four balls in T20Is.
