  • Jey Uso opens the show and tries to run his theme song back until Paul Heyman interrupted. Heyman tells Jey he wants to speak from the heart about family. Heyman tells Jey that Roman Reigns continues to hold him down, and lied to him for choosing others before him. He says he’s telling Jey this because he loves him. Jey kicks back and tells him he made his lane on his own to prove to himself he could do it without Roman, and he did.
  • Naomi is in a backstage segment and says she doesn’t care about who she has to run through to keep her championship, past, present, or future, and warns both IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley that she’s “aggressive-aggressive” ahead of their match at SummerSlam.
  • Sami Zayn appears in an interview segment with Corey Graves. He says he wants to be done with Karrion Kross after his match at SummerSlam, and he’s standing in the way of getting his World Heavyweight Championship. Kross interrupts and sits in for Graves. Kross tells him that everyone he’s dealt with at WWE showed their true colors, but Zayn hasn’t, and it makes him angry. He says that after he beats him, he’ll make him say “Kross told the truth”. Zayn asks him what exactly he wants, and that if he beats him, he’ll say whatever Kross wants him to say. He says maybe Kross is wrong about himself, and that when he wins, Kross needs to admit he was wrong.
  • Bayley is shown backstage and talks about her frustrations about not being on the SummerSlam card. She says she lost her opportunities for gold, and she’s at a loss for words. She leaves the interview abruptly.
  • Gunther appears for in the ring ahead of his Night 1 main event against CM Punk. He tells the crowd his win last week was a clean victory for him, standing toe-to-toe with Punk. Punk interrupts him and tells him that he doesn’t want to be. World Heavyweight Champion, he needs to be champion more than anything. Gunther interrupts and tries to tell him to shut the hell up, but Punk tells him that he’s not on his level and that he’s leaving with that title.
  • Following the DQ finish in the main event, Roman Reigns appeared to save Jey Uso from Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. While they initially had the upper hand, Breakker and Reed laid waste to them both, with Reed delivering on his promise to Tsunami Splash them both.

What’s Next For Bayley?

She Missed WrestleMania, Now SummerSlam

Once a major player in WWE’s women’s division, Bayley’s trajectory recently has sputtered at best, fully stalled out at worst. After missing WrestleMania 41‘s card completely, she’s now missing SummerSlam, leaving fans to wonder what’s next for her and her career.

It’s hard to foresee another heel turn coming for Bayley, as she’s successfully navigated a babyface run post-Hugger. However, it’s time to put some gas back in Bayley’s rocket, and allow her to get a big win over Becky Lynch or Lyra Valkyria, especially after what feels like some interference coming during the aforementioned match this weekend.

CM Punk’s Win May Not Happen At SummerSlam

What Happens If The Seth Rollins Injury Is A Swerve?

The pressure is on for CM Punk as he tries to win his first WWE championship gold in over a decade, and it’s looking almost likely that he leaves Newark with the Big Gold 2.0. Gunther, the most dominant champion of all time, could sustain another loss after dropping the title to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41 a few months ago.

If the rumors are to be believed regarding Seth Rollins and his injured knee being an elaborate ruse, Punk’s dreams may not come true this summer. However, there’s no upside to pulling a fast one on the fans, especially with what appears to be a legitimate injury, and we can hope that Seth recovers in time to keep the cat and mouse game between him and Punk going for a very long time.
