Night two of WWE’s trip to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey for SummerSlam 2025 is officially in the history books, and the show offered up plenty that fans loved. There were big title matches, chaotic hardcore encounters, wild moments, and surprises, so there was a lot to take away from the premium live event. Following on from a noteworthy first night of SummerSlam 2025 that featured a Money in the Bank cash-in from Seth Rollins on CM Punk, new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, and more, the second night had plenty to live up to – and it succeeded!
Naomi Escapes With The Women’s World Title

SummerSlam 2025 Sunday kicked off with another strong showing in the Women’s World Title picture, as Naomi took on Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley. The match quality was strong, with seamless action and great multi-woman sequences.
In the end, Naomi rolled up Rhea Ripley to escape with the Women’s World Title, which was definitely the right booking call. Giving Naomi a big victory on a grand stage like SummerSlam is another nice moment for her strong 2025.
A Classic Tag Team TLC Match
- Wyatt Sicks retained their titles.
- This was one of the best TLC matches in recent memory.
- There were countless amazing spots during the bout.
The Wyatt Sicks defended the WWE Tag Team Championships against a field of DIY, Motor City Machine Guns, Fraxiom, Andrade and Rey Fenix, and The Street Profits, offering up a packed field as they battled in a TLC match. This was an absolute joy to watch, with non-stop action, countless insane moments, and spots that will live on forever. This match had a full highlight reel of big spots, some of which were very innovative.
After months of impressive matches, the SmackDown tag team division shining on a major premium live event was fantastic to witness, and they undoubtedly deserved this moment. They delivered in a big way, accomplishing a noteworthy feat of making sure this match didn’t go off the rails despite the mass number of bodies involved.
Becky Lynch & Lyra Valkyria End Their Feud With A Classic
- Lynch and Valkyria completed their trilogy.
- They had yet another strong match in their feud.
- Lynch stole a win thanks to Bayley, ending their rivalry for the time being.
For the third straight time in a row, Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria showcased their natural chemistry in another banger singles match. At SummerSlam, Lynch and Valkyria engaged in a physical war that carried with it authentic hatred and animosity, with every weapon shot carrying an extra air of aggression and umph.
Valkyria showcased some terrific babyface energy here, wrestling half the match with her hands zip-tied. In the end, Bayley’s presence would cost Valkyria the match, but it was still a thrilling contest regardless. Lynch and Valkyria will undoubtedly meet again at some point in the future, as their clashes over these last few months have been some of the best and most consistent parts of the WWE women’s division this year.
AJ Styles & Dominik Mysterio Pay Tribute To Eddie Guerrero
- AJ Styles wore Eddie Guerrero style gear.
- Mysterio and Styles both used classic Guerrero spots.
- Mysterio successfully defended the Intercontinental Title.
AJ Styles made his entrance at SummerSlam, playing mind games by sporting Eddie Guerrero’s SummerSlam 2005 gear and making his way out in a low rider. The match also featured plenty of classic Guerrero spots, including a trick chair shot where both men pretended to be hit with a chair, and a smart finish in which Mysterio loosened his boot to escape a submission and use it to win the match.
Mysterio has been a highlight of WWE in 2025, and this win ticked off another standout performance from the rising star.
John Cena & Cody Rhodes Redeem WrestleMania 41
- Rhodes and Cena had a disappointing match at WrestleMania.
- They made amends in a classic SummerSlam headliner.
- Brock Lesnar shocked the world as he returned to WWE.
Cody Rhodes and John Cena deserved a chance at redemption after a dud match at WrestleMania 41, and they hit all the high notes as they had a brilliant main event match at SummerSlam 2025. It was full of plunder, table spots, brawling into the crowd, and had all the makings of a main event that felt like it was right out of peak Attitude Era.
Rhodes and Cena both showcased some strong character work, resilience, and great in-ring work, resulting in one of the best matches of the year in WWE. Rhodes beating Cena was the right choice, allowing a babyface Cena to delve into other areas prior to retiring. In a complete shock, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE to close out the show, laying out Cena.
