WWE is set to host both Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution across this weekend, and this episode of SmackDown featured all the last minute build to both of these events. Big feuds continued, good matches took place, and some of it was worth shouting about.

The Wyatt Sicks Are The New WWE Tag Team Champions
- The Wyatt Sicks have been pursuing the WWE Tag Team Titles on SmackDown
- They bulldozed their way through the whole tag team division
- They finally defeated The Street Profits
After many weeks of terrorizing the SmackDown tag team division, The Wyatt Sicks were finally handed a fair and square WWE Tag Team Title match with no shenanigans at play. The numbers game proved to be vital for The Wyatt Sicks, as Erick Rowan played a big role at ringside as Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy went on to defeat The Street Profits to become the brand new WWE Tag Team Champions.
It is about time that The Wyatt Sicks found some real success and developed momentum once again. Their return to WWE programming in 2025 has seen them run roughshod on SmackDown, and this is the culmination of that. The SmackDown tag team division continues to be stacked (and blows RAW’s division out of the water).
Alexa Bliss Won A Fun Fatal Four-Way
- Competitors in the women’s tag title picture faced off on SmackDown
- NXT’s Sol Ruca stood out
- Alexa Bliss built momentum ahead of Evolution
Ahead of Evolution 2025 in which Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez put their Women’s Tag Team Titles on the line in a fatal four-way tag team match, one competitor from each team stepped into the ring on SmackDown to give fans an early taste of Sunday – and it was the best match on the whole show!

Every Match From WWE Evolution 2018, Ranked & Reviewed
As WWE gets ready to hold its second ever all-women’s PLE, let’s look back at the first ever Evolution.
Sol Ruca was the star of the match here, showcasing her fantastic athleticism and looking like a natural on the main roster in her SmackDown debut. The match was fast-paced, featured some good character moments and shenanigans, and it helped to build a match that had little heat heading into Evolution. Bliss picked up the win, nailing Kairi Sane with a Sister Abigail.
Aleister Black Attacked Damian Priest
- R-Truth defeated Black on SmackDown
- Backstage, Black attacked Damian Priest
- This is the best he’s looked since returning to WWE
It had been a pretty slow start to Aleister Black’s time in WWE after returning to the company, limping by each week with a strange lower-card storyline with Ron Killings. On SmackDown, their recent heat came to a head, as they battled in singles action… and Killings shockingly rolled up Black to win the match, handing Black his first singles pinfall defeat since being back.
This wasn’t a bad decision by any means, as it has finally unlocked the side of Black we’ve been wanting to see. Backstage, Damian Priest attempted to calm Black down, but he received a vicious beatdown for his trouble. All of a sudden, Black looked like a serious, dangerous, and violent competitor. It isn’t clear if this was a full-blown heel turn, but either way, it was a strong part of SmackDown as we’ve been dying for this version of Black.
Jelly Roll & Randy Orton Are Teaming Up Against Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre
- On SmackDown, Logan Paul tore down Jelly Roll
- Randy Orton and Jelly Roll formed a partnership
- Randy Orton took a Claymore from Drew McIntyre
With reports drawing some divisive reaction online over the past week regarding Jelly Roll’s potential involvement at SummerSlam this year, Friday Night SmackDown managed to make the most of the situation, and it went over well with the live crowd. Jelly Roll was interrupted by Logan Paul, who gave a hypocritical speech about celebrities in wrestling, which was admittedly entertaining.
This brought out Randy Orton, who came to the aid of the hometown Jelly Roll… only to receive a Claymore from an incensed and revenge-fueled Drew McIntyre, who was given an RKO by Orton last week. Logan Paul picked up the pieces and attacked Orton, forcing Jelly Roll to intervene and take out Paul. The audience was hot for both the music artist and for Orton, showing that this segment did go down as a success.
