India registered its narrowest win in Test cricket history after beating England by six runs in the fifth and final Test at The Oval in London on Monday.
The win allowed India to level the five-match series 2-2. Pacer Mohammed Siraj was the architect of India’s thrilling victory, as he picked three of the four wickets that fell on the final day, which began with England needing just 35 runs to win.
It was a redemption of sorts for India after it suffered a heartbreaking 22-run defeat in the third Test at Lord’s when Siraj’s defensive shot off the backfoot resulted in the ball rolling back towards the stumps and knocking the bail off its perch.
