Cristiano Ronaldo signs new contract at Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract at Al-Nassr, ending months of speculation around the Portugal superstar’s future.

Although no official statement has been released by the Saudi Arabian club, they posted a video on social media with the caption “the story continues with Al-Nassr’s historic leader”.

The post on X was also retweeted by the player himself and appears to confirm the news that had been reported earlier today that the 40-year-old had penned a two-year extension.

Al-Nassr u-turn for Ronaldo

It represents a major u-turn from Ronaldo, who hinted last month that he would be leaving the Riyadh club after posting a message that read: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker remains key to the profile of the Pro League and it is believed both Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli were also keen to sign him.

The news comes a day after Al-Nassr announced the departure of manager Stefano Pioli, with the Italian set to return to Serie A with Fiorentina.

Portugal head coach Roberto Martinez named Ronaldo in his Nations League squad last month, and the Selecao’s all-time leading marksman scored in the semi-final against Germany and final against Spain as his country became champions.

The five-time Champions League winner scored 35 goals in 41 matches across all competitions for Al-Nassr in 2024/25 to finish as the Pro League top scorer in successive seasons, although Al-Nassr finished 13 points off champions Al-Ittihad in third.
