Confirmed line-ups as Nagelsmann makes five changes

Germany will look to bounce back from the humiliation of their World Cup qualifying defeat to Slovakia when they host Northern Ireland.

Die Mannschaft made a nightmare start to their campaign to qualify for the 2026 finals, producing an abject display in a 2-0 defeat in Bratislava.

It marked the first time Germany have lost an away World Cup qualifier, and they will be expected to respond in style against Michael O’Neill’s side.

Germany team news

Julian Nagelsmann has made five changes from the side that slumped to an unprecedented loss.

Three of the alterations are at the back, with Waldemar Anton, Robin Koch and David Raum coming in for Nnamdi Collins, Jonathan Tah and Maximilian Mittelstadt.

Pascal Gross replaces Angelo Stiller in midfield, while Jamie Leweling takes the place of Leon Goretzka.

Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade, both criticised following the defeat to Stuttgart, retain their places in the starting XI.

Northern Ireland team news

Northern Ireland are unchanged from the team that started their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 win over Luxembourg.

Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell wins his 50th cap for Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland have beaten Germany just twice in 19 meetings, both of those wins coming in qualifying for Euro 1984. Despite Germany’s troubles, the odds are against them ending a 42-year wait for a win over Die Mannschaft.
