Cole Palmer ruled out of West Ham clash after injury in warm-up

Chelsea will have to do without Cole Palmer for tonight’s game at West Ham after the England international sustained an injury in the warm-up.

Palmer left the pre-game workouts early and disappeared down the tunnel at the London Stadium with an unspecified problem.

And it was confirmed shortly before kick off that the former Manchester City star would not take part tonight.

He was replaced in the starting XI by Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian, who makes his first Premier League start.

Palmer “felt something” – Maresca

Enzo Maresca told Sky Sports that Palmer “felt something” and had been left out as a precaution.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp said it was a major boost for the Hammers, who were looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at Sunderland.

Redknapp said: “For neutrals and everyone tuning into this game, it’s a disappointment, but for West Ham it is great news for the manager because he’s [Cole Palmer] Chelsea’s best player and talisman.”
