Bronson Reed Makes WWE History After Defeating Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel

Bronson Reed pulled off an astonishing victory over Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel and made history in the process. The Australian prevailed on home turf in Perth in a gruelling street fight that has fueled more Bloodline controversy.

Reigns and Reed’s battle lived up to expectations as they spilled into the crowd, using weapons associated with the Land Down Under, such as a cricket bat. But it was The Usos’ interference, trying to prevent Bron Breakker from helping his Vision stablemate to a win, that ultimately cost the OTC.

Reed moved out of the way of a spear from Jey Uso, and Reigns was sent through a table before the Australian powerhouse picked up the victory. He pinned the Tribal Chief with the kind of pinfall that makes him deserve his ‘Tribal Thief’ moniker.

The 37-year-old has also made astounding history as he has become just the second man to pin Reigns in singles competition this decade. He joins WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in the two-man club following the American Nightmare’s victory in the main event of WrestleMania 40 (April 7, 2024).

If anyone has benefited from Triple H taking over WWE’s creative duties, it’s Reed, who was released by the company in the summer of 2021. He returned in late 2022 before joining Seth Rollins’ Vision faction earlier this year, where he has come on leaps and bounds, and tonight he has picked up the biggest win of his career.

Reed’s win in his homeland isn’t just newsworthy because he becomes the second man in a decade to defeat Reigns. He makes up for missing the Elimination Chamber last year, WWE’s previous visit to Perth.

Triple H alluded to this when congratulating the Australian over his win at RAC Arena. He wrote on X:

“Last year, he was injured and missed Elimination Chamber in Perth. Tonight, he beat one of the best to ever do it. Congrats (Bronson Reed).”

Reed missed Elimination Chamber in February 2024 amid a significant push but he’s been positioned even higher up the card since returning and aligning with Rollins. He is a former NXT North American Champion, and perhaps he’ll now consider entering the RAW title picture, whether that be the Intercontinental Championship or World Heavyweight Championship.
