Brock Lesnar Ruins John Cena’s Last Night On SmackDown

John Cena had challenged Sami Zayn for the United States Championship in a superb opener on SmackDown as he bid farewell to the blue brand one final time. The pair put an excellent match with near falls and Cena paying homage to some of his greatest rivals such as Edge, Kurt Angle and CM Punk.

Both Cena and Zayn were laid out on the mat when Brock Lesnar’s music hit, and the Beast headed to the ring, dragging the referee out of the ring. He first hit the United States Champion with an F-5 before turning his attention to the challenger.

Lesnar then delivered two F-5s to Cena before exiting the ring and staring back at his rival, whom he had previously attacked on his return to WWE at SummerSlam. He made his way backstage to a chorus of boos after ruining the final SmackDown and Chicago appearance of the 17-time world champion.

Brock Lesnar Tells John Cena He’ll See Him At Wrestlepalooza

The cameras cut backstage to Lesnar in the gorilla position, and he stared menacingly down the camera before sending a message to Cena. He said: “Hey John, I’ll see you at Wrestlepalooza b**ch.”

After this segment, the match was made official with the match graphics appearing to confirm the longtime rivals will battle once again at the PLE, the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 20. It will be Lesnar’s first match in two years and the first time he faces Cena since their Extreme Rules match at the PPV back in 2012.

It had long been speculated that Cena and Lesnar would headline Wrestlepalooza, which is promising to be one of WWE’s biggest PLEs in history. WWE are pulling out some of the biggest names and matches for the event, which occurs on the same day as AEW’s All Out.
