Booker T has tipped a current NXT star to be a major player for WWE in the future while speaking proudly about Roxanne Perez’s success since moving up to the main roster. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer knows all about becoming a main event talent, having done so in WCW and WWE.
Booker T Hails Roxanne Perez’s Adaptability
One of the current WWE roster members, for whom Booker T played a crucial role in developing, is Roxanne Perez. The 23-year-old trained at Booker’s Reality of Wrestling school before arriving in WWE’s developmental in March 2022.
Roxanne became a two-time NXT Women’s Champion and was one half of the inaugural NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions with Cora Jade. She moved up to the main roster earlier this year after setting the record for the longest time spent in a single women’s Royal Rumble match (one hour, seven minutes and 47 seconds).
The sky is the limit for Roxanne who has thrived as a member of The Judgment Day while filling in for the absent Liv Morgan. That was a view shared by Booker T while speaking with Esports Insider: “She fits right in, not even a hiccup, not even a ripple, she just stepped right in there, and her confidence is sky-high right now because she’s so freaking good.
Roxanne is working alongside Raquel Rodriguez, one of the powerhouses of the women’s division. While she may be five-foot-one, Booker feels she is more than holding her own: “She’s not the biggest dog in the fight or anything like that, but her way of working, she works so much bigger than she actually is, when you actually watch her work, and you go, wow, man, this girl is really, really good.”
He concluded: “So you forget about everything other than how good she is in the ring. So I’m so proud of her man; she started with us when she was 16 years old, and now she’s a mega star all over the world.”
Roxanne has big plans now she’s fully adapted to the main roster and earning the respect of her peers and legendary WWE names. She wants to one day main event WrestleMania but first might be keen to work a program with one of her childhood idols AJ Lee who recently returned.
“Trick Williams is WWE’s Future” – Booker T
It shouldn’t be too long until Roxanne is joined on the main roster by Trick Williams who has become one of the top stars in NXT. He initially started out as Carmelo Hayes’ henchman but broke free of Hayes to become a hugely popular singles star and a former NXT World Champion.
Trick is now a heel and proving himself capable of taking on any role asked of him while currently holding the TNA World Championship. Booker T believes he is destined to be a top star for WWE: “Trick Williams is the future of this company. He’s my guy. I see myself in Trick, and every time I’d see him in TNA, he came out dressed like me when I was in TNA and doing the Black Snow. He wore the whole gimmick and everything. He’s always paying tribute to me, he even uses some of my terminology.”
The 31-year-old has connected with fans because of his charisma and Booker explained how this will benefit him: “He’s not the greatest wrestler in the world, but you don’t have to be the greatest wrestler in the world to be the biggest star, you just have to be a really good performer. And I think that’s what Trick has picked up on more than anything, on how to go out there and be a really great performer and make fans watch you for so many different reasons than they watch the other wrestlers.”
Trick reunited with Hayes on NXT this week to deal with DIY who have also recently returned to the developmental brand. This could be a storyline that leads to a permanent move to the main roster as the trio are members of the SmackDown roster.
