Bangladesh squad for Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Nigar Sultana Joty named captain


The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup, which is set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.

Nigar Sultana Joty, who also led Bangladesh in its maiden Women’s World Cup outing in 2022, will continue to lead the team.

Nigar Sultana Joty (Captain), Nahida Akter (Vice-Captain), Farzana Haque, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sharmin Akter Supta, Sobhana Mostary, Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, Fariha Islam Trisna, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Nishita Akter Nishi, Sumaiya Akter

Meanwhile wicketkeeper-batter Rubya Haider, who has represented the country in six T20Is, earned a maiden ODI call-up.

Bangladesh opens its campaign against Pakistan on October 2 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Ahead of its tournament opener, the side will play South Africa and Sri Lanka in warm-up fixtures on September 25 and 27 respectively.
