AUS vs SA: Corbin Bosch handed one demerit point for send-off to Ben Dwarshuis

South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch on Wednesday was handed one demerit point for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia.

Bosch breached article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The incident occured in the 17th over of the second innings, when Bosch pointed towards the dressing room after castling Ben Dwarshuis. The Proteas player accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC match officials, eliminating the need for a formal hearing, the ICC said in a statement.

The demerit point was added to Bosch’s disciplinary record. Four demerit points in the space of 24 months lead to a two-match ban in limited-overs cricket.

Bosch picked three wickets in the match, which South Africa won by 53 runs.
