The India A women’s team suffered a second consecutive loss against Australia A after falling to a 114-run defeat in the second of a three-match unofficial T20I series on Saturday at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
Pacer Kim Garth starred with a four-wicket haul, conceding just seven runs in three overs while senior team captain Alyssa Healy smashed a 44-ball 70 to help Australia post a massive total of 187.
Earlier, India had won the toss and elected to bowl.
Australia openers Tahlia Wilson and Healy gave the side a strong start, adding 95 runs for the first wicket. India A skipper Radha Yadav removed Wilson (43 off 35 balls) to give the visitor its first breakthrough before the spinner sent Healy back in the 15th over.
Anika Learoyd (35 off 21 balls) and Courtney Webb (26 off 13 balls not out) had important contributions to end the innings 187/4 in 20 overs.
In response, India’s batters struggled against a disciplined bowling attack. Only two players in Minnu Mani and Vrinda Dinesh managed to cross the 20-run mark. Apart from Garth, Amy Edgar and Tess Flintoff picked two wickets each to bundle out India for just 73 in 15.1 overs.
The teams are set to play the third unofficial T20I on Sunday, August 10, before playing three 50-over matches and a four-day match.
