United Arab Emirates batter Junaid Siddique was caught short of his crease by India wicketkeeper Sanju Samson during the firsst innings of their Asia Cup 2025 match in Dubai on Wednesday.
However, the tailender continued to bat despite being adjudged out by the third umpire becase India withdrew its appeal.
Siddique was distracted by a towel that Shivam Dube dropped in his run up. Siddique missed his pull shot and as he was signalling towards the towel while informing the umpire, Samson ran him out.
According to ICC playing conditions for T20s, the umpire is required to signal a dead ball in such instances.
However, once the third umpire’s decision was put up on the screen, India captain Suryakumar Yadav informed the on-field umpires about India withdrawing the appeal.
Siddique was, however, caught for a three-ball duck just two deliveries later as UAE folded up for 57, the lowest T20 score a team has managed against India.
