Arsenal have announced the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.
The Ecuador international has signed a long-term contract with the Gunners in a deal that could eclipse £50million.
having already added the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze this summer, the Gunners have added another strong tool to their side ahead of the season.
Hincapie made 166 appearances in all competitions for Leverkusen after joining in 2021 and was part of Xabi Alons’s team that won the Bundesliga and German Cup.
Speaking on his new addition, head coach Mikel Arteta said: “Piero has a real physical presence, with his versatility and tactical flexibility giving us strong added defensive options.
“He is a big character, with a very good combination of both youth and maturity. He will make our squad stronger and more competitive as we continue into this season.”
Oleksandr Zinchenko has also departed the club alongside Jakub Kiwior, meaning Hincapie will challenge immediately for a spot in the starting XI.
