Summary
- Paris crowd cheered for minutes; AJ says their love validated his decades of work.
- He needed that support for his ego after losing to Dominik amid a loaded-mask attack.
- Alone without Gallows and Anderson, AJ still treasures France’s backing despite the loss.
AJ Styles has been in the business for many years, and the WWE Superstar is still surprised at fan reactions. Styles had nothing but good things to say about the Paris crowd during his WWE RAW match against Dominik Mysterio. It seems that the wrestler appreciates all the love. It does help that the crowd cheered for five minutes straight between his entrance and the commercial break.
AJ Styles Says Fan Support Means A Lot To Him
WWE spoke to Styles about the crowds during last week’s episode of WWE RAW. He said that last time they were in Lyon, France, he didn’t get to soak it up, but now he had the chance to do that. He revealed that he “needed” that fan support for his ego. AJ said:
“Well, yeah, yeah, I have had something. It was in Lyon, France, and the thing is, I wasn’t able to absorb it and take it all in. But tonight, I got to soak it in, close my eyes, and just take mental images that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Man, I didn’t realize… I didn’t realize how much AJ Styles was loved, and that means a lot. It’s not just like… ‘Hey, he wrestles for the WWE.’ They appreciate the work that I put in for the past two decades, two and a half decades and man, that means a lot. I did something right in this business. Not everything, but tonight it showed me I did have what it takes to get the love and support that I need. Need is the key word. I needed that. I needed that love to have a great match with Dominik Mysterio. Not because Dominik Mysterio’s not great, cause he is. I needed it for me. I needed it for my ego.” (H/T: Fightful)
The September 1 match saw Dominik defend his WWE Intercontinental Title against Styles. When Styles was about to hit Dominik with the Phenomenal Forearm, he was attacked by El Grande Americano, who came out of nowhere. He hit Styles with a loaded mask to the chest, which led Dominik to hit the Frog Splash for the victory.
AJ Styles Says France Has His Back
Styles said that he’s alone now and he misses his boys. His boys that he is referring to are the Good Brothers, aka former WWE stars Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson. Styles did admit that France did have his back, though they couldn’t help him in the ring. Styles seems to be in his sad boy era. He added:
All these little things that shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it does cause you just don’t know if you’ve done enough. I needed that. I’ll take every opportunity that I can get, and I don’t know if this leads to another one, cause I lost. I don’t have support from anybody else. I don’t have a clique or a squad or a club anymore. I have no one. All I’ve got is me and my family when I go home. That’s all I’ve got. I had France tonight. They had my back, but they couldn’t get in the ring or come outside and help me outside of the ring. They couldn’t do that. I guess you could say I miss my boys. I miss Gallows and Anderson, Omos. Miss those guys, man. It’d be nice to have some help, but it’s on me now.”
Gallows and Anderson were released from WWE on February 8, 2025. While Omos is still with the company, his last WWE match was as an entrant in the Andre the Giant Memorial 2024 Battle Royal. The match aired on the April 5, 2024, episode of SmackDown. Since then, he has been wrestling with Pro Wrestling Noah and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. So, while Styles may be alone, he does have the fan support.
