A New Ron Killings Interview Just Showed WWE Fans What His New Character Will Be

At the age of 53, Ron Killings is having the biggest moment of his career. He’s been in wrestling for decades, working as K-Kwik in WWE’s Attitude Era, winning the NWA World Championship in TNA under his real name, then returning to WWE, where he became wrestling’s best comedic character as R-Truth.

Killings was already beloved, but when WWE tried to let him go, TKO found out just how much everyone loves him. Fan outrage led to R-Truth returning, but the laughter is gone. Ron Killings has been reborn as a more serious character, but in an interview just put out by Busted Open, it was revealed that the truth has not only set him free, but it might also be driving him mad.

R-Truth is no longer in WWE, but one day he’ll surely be invited into the Hall of Fame, where he’ll get quite the induction speech.

Ron Killings Returned To WWE And Left R-Truth Behind

He Showed A More Serious Side At Money In The Bank And Raw

R-Truth Money in the Bank return

  • Talking to Little Jimmy and entering the Women’s Royal Rumble made R-Truth a great comedic gimmick.
  • Truth cut off his hair on Raw and said he was not a side show.
  • He called himself by his real name of Ron Killings.

R-Truth was a hilarious comedy gimmick that fans never got sick of. His cluelessness was infectious, whether he was talking to Little Jimmy or accidentally entering the Women’s Royal Rumble. However, as good as Ron Killings is at playing that role, he couldn’t be the same guy when he returned at Money in the Bank. It would have made no sense to see him acting clueless and cracking jokes after the serious crap he’d just been put through, not only in kayfabe, but in real life.

Thankfully, we did indeed get a more serious R-Truth. When he bashed John Cena in the head with his title at the PLE, he looked serious. Then came that shocking Raw promo when he told everyone that he was not a side show or a gimmick. He’s Ron Killings, “and you’ll put some respect on my name!” To prove his point, Killings cut off his hair live on air. The old R-Truth is dead, and Ron Killings has been set free.

Ron Killings Had A Rage-Fueled Meltdown On Busted Open

Does His New Character Have A Split Personality?

  • It’s not crazy to think that Ron Killings could beat John Cena for the WWE Championship.
  • Killings apologized on Busted Open for getting mad about a Bully Ray segment.
  • He then snapped, yelling that no one will tell him what to do.

It was a brilliant move for Killings and fans loved it. It’s starting to seem like he could maybe even be the one to beat John Cena for the WWE Championship, perhaps at SummerSlam, and bring Cena back from the dark side. A month ago, that would have sounded impossible, but now Ron Killings’ bond with the fans feels so much like Daniel Bryan’s YES Movement and Kofi Kingston’s KofiMania.

To add to the intrigue, Ron Killings showed up on Busted Open to talk with hosts Dave LaGreca and Natalya. It was brought up how Truth had tweeted at Busted Open with a message that started “Don’t tell me what to do” after Bully Ray had tried to fantasy book how Killings should act now. Ron started out quiet and humble, apologizing for getting angry and saying he would immediately delete the tweet because he doesn’t talk like that. But then LaGreca pushed him, showing the Bully Ray video where he said Ron Killings should never use the name Truth again. The apologetic Killings of a minute before disappeared, as he snapped, his eyes wild and face full of rage.

‘Who the f**k he talking to? Who he telling me who I am? I know who I am! I’m protecting him. You see, everybody got somebody that’s trying to tell them who the f**k they are. I know who I am. I’m not the nice one. I’m driving now! Don’t let nobody tell you who you are. You know you’re better than anybody else know. And I know me better than anybody else know me, too! And they better put some respect on my name, because I am the truth. So help me.”

Ron Killings then calmed down again, saying he was done being nice, but he’s not angry. He just won’t be taken advantage of anymore. Getting worked up once more, Killings said:

“I feel different. I feel more alive than I’ve ever felt. I’m driving now.”

During his time in TNA, R-Truth did a rap that insulted WWE. When he later joined the promotion, John Cena hadn’t forgot.

This New Character Is Either Genius Or Will End In Disaster

WWE Can’t Turn Ron Killings Heel

R-Truth Announces Shocking Departure From WWE

  • YouTube commenters wondered if Ron Killings will have a split personality.
  • WWE will make a mistake if they turn Killings heel and move him away from John Cena.
  • Fans will refuse to boo him, just like they wouldn’t boo a heel Becky Lynch when her popularity took off.

Ron Killings went from calm to angry, to calm to angry again, like a man at the end of his rope about ready to snap over people telling him how to act. Many comments on Busted Open’s YouTube video wondered if Ron Killings’ new character was going to have a split personality, with him trying to be a calm person who only wants to be himself, but who then rages out of control whenever he’s doubted or questioned.

Killings played it well, and it was actually a little bit terrifying. Imagine that guy in a promo with John Cena. Take my money now! The only fear is that he came across a bit heelish, so would WWE, who has been known to be tone deaf so many times, try to turn Ron Killings heel when he’s the most beloved star in the company right now? Sadly, I could see that happening, with Killings taking out his anger on his friends and leaving John Cena behind as the WWE Champion focuses on CM Punk and whoever else.

WWE can try to turn him heel, but I don’t think it would work. Ron Killings is no longer just a beloved character. Fans love the real person behind him. They won’t boo him any more than they booed Becky Lynch when she got so hot on her own that Vince McMahon tried to cool her down with a heel turn. WWE would be better off to go all in with what’s happening. After a dull two months after WrestleMania, wrestling feels exciting again, all because of one man. Don’t try to control him. Just let Ron Killings do his thing and the fans will eat it up. Now put some respect on his name!
